Worst car buying experience ever

So after two weeks of waiting for the car to be delivered that I wanted to buy, I drive up to the dealer and see a nice cherry red exterior and get all excited.

I get closer and realize that the black interior wasn't black, but tan. And the dash wasn't black but brown! At that point I'm thinking "Seriously? How do you mess this up??"

Then, even closer.... "where is the premium package that I asked for?"

Even worse, the red with black and premium package I saw online when i initially went in to buy had 4,000 more miles for the same price. They said "we can get you the same car for the same price, but with 4,000 less miles...." so, of course, I said "sounds great! Can't go wrong with that..." (laughable now knowing I said that)

After realizing that the car they had in front of me was completely unacceptable, they called to get the one I originally came in for, the red/black/premium one. "When? Yesterday?" is what I heard as he called. You guessed it... SOLD yesterday. The last red with black i can find.

I am pretty upset right now. Even worse, I can't do a damned thing about it but type this up to make myself feel better.

Guess I'll have to keep searching for my G37X or G37XS to replace my Mazdaspeed6.

Bummer dude... I'd be pissed, too.

You'll love the one you end up with, though....

I found a couple of 2009 G37XS blue slate / graphite interior sedans, fully loaded for just under $30,000.

Sadly, they're 400 miles away and I have my car I want to trade in. I'd get screwed on the trade in, since they'd know I drove from another state and lowball offer, knowing I'd probably have to take it, or I'd have a long long drive home...

I'm seeing if my local Infiniti dealer would be willing to buy one of them if I paid the shipping/tax and they do the trade-in locally, to make it easier on me. Hopefully that will work, but I've only been able to do that with a new car. I don't know if they'd do it with a used car...

After two weeks of anticipating ownership, I'm even more excited to find the car. After seeing the red one in person, I love it.

Wow. Sorry man. I am a firm believer in the fact that things happen for a reason, so maybe something better will come along.

What dealership? Help give our members a heads up on who you were dealing with.

Good luck finding the perfect G for you.

Enterprise Car Sales. Nationwide... and still can't differentiate between "Red with Black interior, premium package" and "Red, tan interior, base" in their database of 100k+ cars...

Since the Infiniti has a 4yr/60k mile warranty, buying a 30k mile 2009 still would leave me with 2.5 years of warranty and 30k miles left.

They didn't have an XS though, so now I'm opening up my search to ALL dealers. I initially just wanted red/black/premium to make me happy. Now I'm looking further at what I can find

Another thing i noticed about Enterprise Car Sales is the CarFax showed up as 10 miles on one, when the car had 35k.. and the other showed only 14k when the car had 30k. It seems that having a huge company allowed them to bypass carfax reporting. If they aren't reporting mileage at oil changes and maintenance, are they also fixing cars and re-painting without it showing up??? I'd say it's in their best interest to hide that info, so they can resell the cars. Shady.

I give much respect for Enterprise to come onto this forum and do what they can to resolve this situation. Most places wouldn't even think twice of doing this.

i had that happen to me without the wait for transport.
saw a black/graphite i wanted, called and was told to come in.
i got there and was told the one i called about was "just sold"
probably just wanted me to come in.
but, they had another black/beige at the dealer...

We looked everywhere for a 2010 graphite shadow/graphite G37S 6MT sedan and found one 300 miles away but that dealer wouldn't give us a real sale price and I won't pay MSRP.

The local dealer says they don't sell/stock more than a handful of 6MTs in sedan or coupe but ordered a 2011 GS/graphite with the only option being the midnight grill. It will arrive in November and if we agree on a price and like the way it drives; we'll buy it. We did test-drive a G37Xs and neither my wife nor I like the automatic even with the paddle shifters.

Stealerships tend to not want to make deals for cars not on their lot. I had a similar experience when I was looking for a G37 Sedan RWD in Chicago. Apparently, Infiniti is terrified of selling RWD sedans to their customers in the midwest. The sales guy wanted to charge me the cost of shipping and then ~$800 over invoice! I said no thanks and walked out.

I ended up finding the last RWD Journey in the tri state area from another local dealer and snapped it up that day.
