New guy from NY

What's going on everyone? My name is Anthony I'm 25 from Long Island NY. I been into cars my whole life, I now have a 2004 Nissan Xterra "****ty I know", but before that I had a 04 WRX with 15k into it. Long story short I got sick of blowing **** up on it and sold it. I been a fan of 350z for years but didn't like how slow they are. As I got older I wanted something with speed and comfort. The 2010 Infiniti G37S has everything I want. I'm picking up my new baby this saturday I just wanted to to say hi and I look forward to learning more, take care.

congrats on the new choice. the 350z stock was slow but little turbo on it makes it a fun car (same goes for the G's).

If you find the Z to be slow, I hope you don't have high expectations for the G as far as speed is concerned.

The new G37's are WAY faster than the original 2003 350Z. The Z's Dyno'd at 245whp if you were lucky. The new G37's dyno at 285whp. That is a massive jump. Yes, the G37 can be considered decently fast, stock for stock, it would destroy a 350Z.

Well my WRX put down 320 to the wheels and did low 12's so I know its not going to be as fast but I'm coming from an nissan xterra so it should be fun. I just love the look of the car I don't wanna go crazy. I'm thinking wheels, springs and exhaust. I live in E.Setauket NY, exit 62 off LIE.

The G isn't really that much faster than a Z, an HR Z might even disappoint you

LOL, a G37 wouldn't destroy a 350Z in any sense of the word. Forget the dyno for a minute and remember that the G is a fat pig compared to the Z. The weight difference alone is more significant than the HP difference. I think the difference between a 350Z and a new G37 would be more about the driver than anything else... I found an old Automobile magazine with a road test of the 2003 350Z and they managed to get a 0-60 time of 5.5 seconds, which sounds very familiar to road tests of the G37.

Welcome to the forum man. Don't worry, this started way before you joined. Anytime anyone praises the G's performance capabilities or compares it to car "X", there's always someone to rain on the parade and let us know how bloated and slow it really is compared to car "Y".

Enjoy your new G. It sounds like you understand what you want and what the car is and isn't. Have fun!

I don't think anyone is trying to rain on his parade (or yours)...but there's something to be said of being realistic instead of living in fantasy land. I like the G as much as the next guy, but I'm not going to pretend or try to convince everyone else that it's some kind of rocketship. It's a relatively quick grand touring car....not a drag racer. Too many guys on this forum seem to think it's a great car for the stoplight Grand Prix.
