Now perhaps this is for another thread, but you may be referring to those executives at Nissan who are not only concerned about your safety, but who don’t want your next car’s price to go through the roof due to lost million dollar law suits stemming from accidents caused by drivers’ taking their eyes off the road to input destinations.

It’s unfortunate actually if you didn’t get the nav for that reason. I’ve found that the improved voice recognition system on the G37 is quite accurate, fast and works so well that you can input destinations faster while driving that if done manually. You can certainly say, “20569 East Manhattan Street” faster than typing it in. And you can do it while keeping your eyes on the road. Add that to the backup camera and traffic alerts through XM on the nav screen, you’ve skipped some worthwhile features. At any rate, Congratulations on your new car.

^Well, I had an Acura TL and you could change it while driving, I don't need the NAV to get where I'm going, I always needed it to find a detour when traffic hit and that was impossibly cumbersome to do via voice on the G. You had to hit "ok" on a screen that was a warning (lawyers put it there I'm sure) but other than that it was fine.

I realize that some other manufacturers allow destination inputs while driving. IMO, they recognize the potential liability exposure, but have added that factor to the MSRP of their vehicles, thereby passing these increased costs onto their buyers.

I also predict that with the continued improvement of voice recognition technology this issue, as debated in many forums, will become moot.

No doubt the M is quick, but you can't beat this new G for comfort and here in CO at 5000' they're almost identical for speed. At sea level it may be different. I was told our dual TBs is what helps the G up here. The new M3 (68k) is disgusting though, when my fiance's lease is up on her car next Oct. I'm going to give her this and go get a used M6 or new M3.

I'll see if he's up for it, he called me today and was having problems with his SMG tranny (another reason NOT to own one). If it's toast it's like 6k to fix and of course his warranty ran out in April he said...

Honestly, I looked at the M3 HARD, really hard, I drove one (used 05) RIGHT before I drove the G at the same dealer, they were gonna almost give it to me so I took it to the BMW dealer. It needed the 50k service (1800) and to get an extended warranty before the warranty ran out was like 2200. Basically the guy at the BMW dealer told me to buy the G, he has a G35 and says for the same $$ you're getting more car. At this altitude they're pretty neck and neck for speed, the G is so much more refined though. I did tons of research and the BMW's are pretty poor for reliability and I'd rather have a car that *might* be slower that's reliable for sure ya know? Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome guys (and gals) lookin forward to some mods!
