The addiction has begun...
The addiction has begun...
I had a great time last weekend at Summit Point running with BMWCCA. This was my first time ever on a road course, and just like what everyone has told me, it can be addicting. I can see why now. Saturday we ran the Jefferson Circuit counter-clockwise, which was OK. I only went through 3/4 tank. Sunday we ran the JC clockwise, and it was a totally different course. It felt faster. I guess it was because my "E" light came on on my last session. I had to end my session a little early. That night I stopped by Walmart and bought a 5 gallon portable jug, which saved my butt the next day. Monday we ran the Summit Point circuit. What a fun course (especially The Chute)! My tank was on "E" after my third session. Good thing I picked up the extra fuel, or I would have been SOL.
Highlights of the event:
- On my third session at SPR, I was zooming out of The Chute, and upon entering turn 5, I broke a little too late. I locked up and left a smoke screen for the car behind me. I didn't run off the pavement, but I flatspotted my front left tire. It's all good though, you've got to experience these types of things in order to learn from them right.
- After the same session, when I popped my hood in the paddock, I noticed that my battery's positive terminal cap was missing.
- After the 2nd day the letters on my front calipers were no longer white, they turned beige. They are not Brownbos quite yet.
- Passing all the M3's in my run group, except for one E36, who had done 2 HPDE events previous to this one. Experience does show on the track.
Here are some pics.

At the end of Saturday...

At the end of Sunday...

I'd wish for the same thing if I had a terminal illness..

good stuff Jess. Please keep us posted on whatever event you plan on attending. I'm going to try to save up some money to do this. When I went down the SC to pick up my buddie's e90, we were at the BMW plant and got to go on their smaller course. It was a lot of fun. So keep us posted!!

.Sure will Khoa! I'll give you enough notice to prep your car.
[QUOTE=jester7500]One Advan has already been sacrificed. Poor tire, it didn't have a chance to see 2000 miles

by prepping you mean, putting gas in the car? shoot, at the rate gas is going up, not sure if that's possible..haha. sounds good jess, I have a co-worker with an e46 m3 that's very interested too.

Terry, maybe.
Khoa, gas should be the least of your concerns, because you'll get about 4 miles to the gallon. Here's some stuff that needs to be done beforehand:
- change oil and filter
- flush brake fluid
- check brake pads (at least 50% is needed)
- check rotors
- check tires
- check coolant
- clean out all loose items in car
- torque lug nuts to appropriate amount
- check of any leaks anywhere
- bring extra fluids (brake, oil, coolant)
- bring extra brake light bulbs
