Use the system and be a pain in the ***. Ask the prosecutor for the calibration certificate for the radar/ladar/laser gun he used. If your found guilty or if the prosecutor drags his/her feet on the calibration sheet, then don't show up, file an appeal and move it up. Most lawyers won't suggest this, and that's because they are lazy and don't want to show up for a second court appearance for a flat fee. I actually won a case like this cuz the cop didn't have the calibration cert and the prosecution office never provided me the docs up to the trial date. I appealed, then approached the prosecutor's office again for the papers, they stonewalled me until the second court date and the cop didn't show up to testify because he never had the calibration cert at all. The prosecutor finally admitted this prior to my case coming up and asked the judge to dismiss the case pending the obvious reasons.

Yes they do give you points .It is the luck of the draw .They normally reduce the points though.

Are you from Md because they are never gonna have a calibration sheet .They will just tell you calibrated on a date.I have been to court many times .You are still gonna get points unless you are lucky.Got to go to court though.

I just also got a ticket $323 which I'm definately taking to court. supoosely I was doing 86mph on a 55mph zone. The funny thing is that i was traveling west bound on the express way, and the cop was east bound on the other side. Supposely he radar me across five lanes of express way and a center divider, and was able to tell that the car that was doing 86mph was mine.....YEAH RIGHT...maybe if he had laser me I belive it.....He just got mad that a red G35 was whopping an EVO and a TransAM ......to top it off finally he pulls me over and the first thing he says: "ohh that, that you have right there ain't gonna work" and i'm like "what are you talking about", he says " the radar dectector" I just laugh and told him to give me the ticket.....Now he said that because when he gave me the ticket I saw that he was using a stalker radar (it works on K and Ka bands but on different frequencies).....I didnt know this at the moment, but I got home and I researched it. Well not all radar detectors detect wide frequencies (stalker radar) only the very good ones, and mine happends to be able to detect wide frequencies........So definately this moth**f***e* did'nt clocked me.....like I said he just got mad at the racing, and then tells me: take it to court and bring your lawyer becuase I'm going to make sure to be there so you get it this time........whatever dog......we'll see eachother at court.

The Moral of the story: no matter what, you always go to court and fight it, and if you can get a ticket attorney do so...it has always worked for me...

One more thing if you speed get a radar detector, it was saved me a bunch of times.
This is true not all guns are a fixed frequency they work within a band that may be able to be changed. But that across the highway 5 lanes is bull.Plus alot of their gun are fixed into the window so chances are he didnt move it.

Back on the subject, go to court and ask for radar readout. If the pig can't produce one, you have a good chance having the case dropped. No proof, no guilt. Court of law can't go by what the cop says, he has to prove it. Whether the judge will side with the cop, it's another story. Regardless of what the peeps in CA said in other threads about how well the cop can visually judge speed, "he said, I said" just doesn't has a leg in court.
Yes they are the same company.

Same exact thing just happened to me in Fairfax on Sat. night. I don't even have a choice, I have to appear in court or they can issue a warrant for my arrest for failure to appear. I know I was not clocked with a radar cause the cop kept trying to get me to say how fast I was going (which I did not do), and he said he was coming from behind me at 75 approaching 80. I know he was not behind me because no one was and he turned to follow me after he saw me go through an intersection (he must have just ripped it to catch up cause he pulled me over within sight of that intersection). Anyways, I am an attorney, and I consulted with some friends of mine...you'll be able to argue the ticket down so that the fine is not as large and so you either don't get points or they are reduced (apparently points can't be negotiated in VA, so you're lucky you were in MD). Honestly, the biggest issue with this **** will most likely be the impact on your insurance. If you have an attorney friend who will not charge you to represent you that day in court, he can negotiate with the prosecutor...but you can prob do it yourself.

This was in Alexandria actually. Never had a traffic prob in MD. MD state troopers are a b1tch to deal with in general. MoCo cops, never dealt with them.

Never admit guilt until you have to. Remorse is not a successful tactic with most judges and they don't care if you were stressed out or fighting with your gf. Just insist on the calibration cert. If that tactic doesn't work, make a deal with the prosecutor to lower the fine/points in exchange for pleading out.

Good Luck

Fairfax cops are the worse in this area. They will ticket you even if you have a FOP license tag. A friend got hers in Fairfax with FOP tag, go figure.

That's why it is important to ask for the radar readout and always good to have a radar detector.

More the reason to own a V-1

Ask the judge for a 90-day advisement if you have a clean record.
