Kinetix vs Crawford
Kinetix vs Crawford
Hey guys, I asked this in the main forum but didn't get many responses. I was wondering if anyone knew how the Kinetix HF Cats compares with the Crawfords. There seems to be a good mix of ppl choosing the Kinetix or the Crawfords so I wanted to know if you guys knew anything. 500+ for the crawford is a bit pricey, rather get the MREV over it.. I'm asking because I want to do the exhaust system at one time, cats, ypipe, and the fuji or the cats, and HKS.
IMO HF cats are a waste of money. I have spoken with several local exhaust system installers and they basically sing the same song.
To pass emission testing for an inspection sticker any additional flow over the OEM cat can trigger a test failure. So you’re basically purchasing a box that says High-Flow on it. Two of the installers said they feel like they’re ripping the customer off, however, they still insist on buying the HF box that’s why they carry them.
Some folks may disagree, but this is my opinion, I think HF cats are no different than buying a Tornado Fan or Electric Supercharger for your air intake.

^ok I disagree......I have seen stock cats and I have seen aftermarket cats. The general perception as to performance goes a lil something lik ethis.......the easier you car can ingest air and expel exhaust the quicker your car will be. The stock cat is VERY restrictive...you will barley see any light pass through the honey comb.....HF on the other hand are a looser honey comb which allow the gases to exit quicker. As for passing emmisions.....my understanding to this is if your car is 2000 or newer then all they do is plug into your ECU and check for trouble codes. My car doesn't throw any codes as of now, and I have Intake, MREV, Cats, and exhaust. I belive there are dynos posting the gains of HF as well.

Yeah, im still waiting for Devon to order me a set of cats and donate his MREV to me. heheh
it seems you have quite a few mods on the exit side. I would go for the MREV and then get the High Flow cats.. imho

I don't know why anybody with '05+ would consider anythign other than MREV+ for performance purpose. It's really is the best you money will buy. Install is rather simple and allow you to get your hands dirty working on your car and not overly complicated. What more from a mod can you ask for?
Devon is right, in MD, newer cars get's plug in for emmission, it's 30 second and basically if you're not throwing any CEL codes, you should be good...i think..haha
