no reason for paddle shifters without a true clutchless manual. automatics don't require you to take your hands off the wheel normally anyway.

Besides, rev-matched downshifts are MANDATORY for enthusiastic driving. I'm not going to burn up an automatic transmission in the twisties downshifting the way the current AT5 does which just wears out the clutch plates and overheats it.

The new sedan is pimp!! Almost coupe-ish..haha . Dual exhaust, much more sportier and M-ish as stated above. I like the interior a lot, much more classy. As if we need to make the sedan faster . Hopefully it'll weigh more so us coupe won't be at an even worst disadvantage.

Are you saying the new sedan will have 300 + hp.I like the new body it does look like a m 35/45 sweet. So thenew g coup should be well over 300 .I know they say 330hp.

edmunds.com reported that it will have 300+hp, with a 7500rpm redline it should be easily more than that. torque might drop though depending on whether they increased the compression rate

“The block features ladder frame construction for greater rigidity, crank journal and pin diameters have been increased, the block height increased by 8.4 millimeters to reduce piston side force and the engine center is now 15 millimeters lower, which also contributes to the G’s improved dynamic performance,” says Infiniti’s release on the G. “Other engine enhancements include the addition of standard variable exhaust cam timing (eCVTCS), a higher rev limit (increased from 6,600 rpm to 7,500 rpm) and higher compression ratio (10.6:1 versus the previous 10.3:1), asymmetric piston skirts, twin knock sensors, improved coolant flow and new Iridium spark plugs. A new symmetric twin ram air intake system helps reduce airflow resistance by 18 percent and a new exhaust system design with equal length exhaust manifolds and reduced muffler exhaust pressure (25% less than the first generation G35) help improve engine breathing.”

maybe not 2007 but the year after....

The speed dials/rpm dials look awfully similar to audi's...

hmmm looks like I might have a hard time in 2008 deciding between the GT-R and the new G...hopefully the GT-R doesnt cost tooo much...

OMG I FOUND IT:

INFINITI: Refined electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching and DS mode and ASC (Adaptive Shift Control) that allows for quicker shifts in sporty driving situations and magnesium paddle shifters on Sport A/T mode.
Sweet. That works for me.

Too bad it's not a 6spd and probably only worthwhile in the Sport model that gets the paddle shifters (I wonder if the AWD model gets the paddle shifters, maybe even if with the sport package or something?).

I would like to see the AWD model with paddleshifters and DRM. Might be interesting.

Yeah I also wish they would have gone w/ a 6speed A/T. The new SLK has a 7 speed A/T. But the paddle shifters will be a plus
