Not sure I understand all the hidden remote install like in the ashtray or lower compartment. Wouldn't that be a hassle to look down everytime you get a beep? Not to mention taking your eyes off the road to read the display each time. Seem inconvenient to me. Personally it'd be mounted near the guage or in the left bottom corner of the windshield where you don't have to look away to read the display. I just see a lot of people going creative on radar install but don't see the praticallity. One dude even mounted in the rear on top of his 3rd brake light and routed the remote display to the front. Just not practical to me.

pdjafari,
You know I have the V-1 and since everybody already pretty much said all there is to say about it, so I am just going to spare your time. It saved my **** twice in one day last week. Once on Rt 32 and once on this windy country road. The trooper was behind a bush using Instant On, a spot you can't see till its too late. My V-1 caught the signal he used on the cars ahead of me. Bought me a second while my foot went through the firewall. Couple seconds is all you need between a ticket or a drive by with the blank look

Definitely recommend to pay the extra for the stealth unit.

If it's hidden, you won't need to worry about cops seeing it while driving by in VA/DC. Also, if you go through check points, I simply hit the kill switch and close my ashtray. It looks 100% factory. I don't have to worry about undoing any plugs and getting the attention of the cop. Imagine if he thought you were trying to conceal a weapon? It only makes matters worse. Spend 1-2 hours adding a kill switch and stealth remote install and your worries are gone.

If I end up getting a Valentine 1 detector, I'm getting something like this for the remote display:

http://www.ecisbmw.com/product_files...%20Display.htm

I've seen a couple on eBay in the past and they go for about $300.

If you're in VA and have that display in the rearview mirror, you're just asking to be pulled over. At night, it is easily seen from behind.

Read the ad again. It says for BMW cars. Don't think it works for other brand.

just got a v1 for christmas, and let me tell you about those arrows. i was driving on balto. beltway, and usual signals go off for the usual places. front arrow goes off and slowly gets stronger, so i slow down and signal gets weaker, speed up and it gets stronger, slow down, and it goes weaker. this goes on for a minute or so. i realize that there is rolling radar, and that he is in front of me, so i slowly weave through traffic and five or six cars ahead, i spot a black crown vic. this is the one and only time i've come across radar and had gotten saved, but i think those arrows made a difference in this instance. also, how much ya want for your gtech...i call dibs.
