Estcheuon or watever

For all you guys/gals stating that the door has to be ripped apart to install the $24 gadget that Dhej picked up for us your

ALL WRONG!!!

Check out this thread, page 2, guys says it took him 10 seconds to install, I find it hard to believe he was able to rip open door panel and swap this out in just 10 seconds. Other ppl followed his lead and changed this as well. In addition it seems that you KEEP the locking mechanism IN PLACE, therefore IF you ever do lose your key FOB or its battery dies, simply pry off the piece, open your door....

OK i did this mod about two years ago, i had the cover before i had the car haha. It started off as someones idea to remove the key lock mechanism and disable the window roll down via key/or screwdriver for would be thief's. However removing the key locking mechanism or removing any function of it is completely unnecessary if you want cover for aesthetic purposes as i did. You open the driver side door, you will see a black plug on the door ( in the door jam area) you remove the plug by gently prying it out. In there you you will see a torx or an allen screw i cant remember but something tells me its a torx. You back that out all the way, don't worry thee is a stopper so you cant drop it in the abysss of the door. You will see when you do it. By backing out the screw it loosens the lock mechanism just enough to let you pry the stock escutcheon away from the car, start from the back and pull towards the front of the car, if you have the ESM I think there is a diagram in there. It is not easy to remove and requires a little bit of force to get it off. So be careful and maybe wrap a cloth around it to prevent scratching the door. Then put the new one in the revers order, tighten the screw in the door and put the plug back. If something ever did happen ie battery failure you can not just pop it off, break it off and possibly damage the car yes. But pop on off no way.

Just did mine took 2 min.

If you look at the one you're replacing there is a clip on it. Unclip from the metal thing that comes with it.

Then on your car pull the door handle and unclip it just like you did in the previous step and pop it back on.

No need to screw or unscrew anything.

Again No need to screw or unscrew anything.

Didnt read the thread, but it does take 5 minutes to do. There's no need touch the door panel. just one simple screw to unscrew on the side of the door behind this plastic cover, then , BAM the cover piece comes off, then swap the outer piece with the one w/o the hole and put back on. No need to take anything apart.
