Exhausts

Hey, I was looking at some exhausts the past few weeks. I was trying to decide between the invidia g200, fujisusbo legalis r, and the injen ses. But from the meet, I saw and heard Pat's exhaust (borla i think). It sounded bad a$$. So I'm thinking of going borla. I've heard the invidia, although i love the look of it, I think the exhaust was a lil too quiet, maybe even quieter than the stock. I would love the HKS, but its out of my price range. So, what exhausts would you all go. Any kind of info regarding these exhausts would help a lot. Thanks!!

i really love the HKS but its very pricey as u mentioned. the borla sounds really good from what ive seen and heard. the greddy evo 2 also sounds good, the injen is LOUD...the fuji i have heard and it's also quieter than stock like the invidia but opens up a bit under WOT. the only other exhausts I have looked into are the tanabe which is a tad louder than stock overall and sounds really good IMHO and the Blitz WS2. these are both single muffler units like the stock exhaust however are a tad louder and look much nicer. They can be had for around $600-$700 shipped and were def. on my top 5....stillen is also good, deep and has been known to give the best gains on the coupe only down side is price ~1k and weight...its one of the heaviest...not sure if the new version 2 is...

hmm, ppl in the "coupe" section are saying not to go true dual exhausts unless you go FI. I really doubt I'll be going FI. They said that the true dual's lose power on the low end due to the decrease in back pressure? dunno if thats true or not, so I think I'm going to go with the Fujisubo. Is the injen/borla/stillen "true dual exhausts" ?

jee, this is true of dual exhausts which lack the x/h pipe section (invidia) as an example. in order to stabilize the exhaust gases alot of members custom an x or H pipe section into the dual exhausts in hopes of not losing the power. I know many members w/ the invidia who have this H/X pipe solution. The stillen already has an x pipe section built into it. and since it has been shown to have the best gains, i wouldnt say ALL true duals lose power since the stillen has been proven to provide the best gains. the borla is also a true dual i believe.

nice choice...but it takes a long time to get it according to several people.
only flaw of injen exhaust is that it's heavy.
anyone knows the HP gain dif between injen and HKS? (there's no definite gains for the mods but...)

I would say another flaw of the Injen SES is the issue of it blowing fiberglass STILL. Supposedly this was only an issue in earlier exhaust systems, but from what I hear (myself included being an Injen SES owner), it still blows fiberglass.

As far as looks and sound go, the looks of the Injen SES is in my opinion the nicest from behind. The sound of it is just LOUD, completely stock with just the exhaust it's doable, but if you are planning to go with headers, or replace your stock cats with something else in the future, it will be LOUD. This is what mine sounded like all stock with the Injen SES: http://www.lexipro.com/G/g35_clip1.MPG

If I were to do it again, I would have gone with the HKS even with the hefty price tag on it. It has the looks of the Injen SES, but without that overly LOUD exhaust note (some people just claim it's LOUD, and don't classify it as a NOTE at all ). In my opinion with the HKS exhaust you are getting what you pay for, which is quality.

The only other exhaust that I have heard in detail (idle, normal driving, WOT) is the Borla exhaust. This exhaust has a nice low exhaust note, almost sounding stock during normal driving, but coming alive when you really get on it. As far as gains I don't have any numbers on these, but I did see a post awhile back comparing weights and gains (some case loses) with different aftermarket exhausts.

I heard my friend's g35 coupe in Va with the Fujisubo + Y-Pipe combo. The exhaust sounded pretty nice. Really quiet during idle, but when you get on it, it opens up to a nice throaty sound. I think that I've decided to go with the Fuji, and then the Y-pipe later down on the road. The Volk SF challenges should be here around the last week of Jan / first parts of Feb. Hopefully then I can get the exhaust for spring.
That Amuse exhausts looks beautiful! but dang.. wuts with the price tag?? haha
The wait on the HKS is at least 4+ months from what I hear. I think Devon told me that he ordered his in July, and its due sometime in Dec/Jan?? jeez.. haha

There's probably only a handful of people who has the amuse exhaust. IMO it's the best exhaust...BUT that's just my opinion. It sounds great... real low.... not all loud..but will definitely open up on WOT.
