Looking for tint.

Hey guys since this is my best and new place to search for stuff local for G35's. I'd thought I ask you all where you where a reasonable place may be to get my windows tinted? Also how much did you pay for yours?

There are a ton of places around. In fact, if you search just this club forum you'll find quite a few threads regarding this subject.

I think its a general consensus though that LA Tint is the best place locally in northern Va. While they may be the most expensive they are good. I think its around $250 or so?

They do good work I take it? Do they do a good job on the upper part of the rear window?

Upper part of the rear window you'll see a lot of conflicting information. I'd ask them how they handle the dot matrix. I know a few in the club have just got no tint on the dot matrix, some have it tinted over (if the installer is good there should be no bubbles on it) and I even have mine painted from inside the car which looks good to me! I'd see what LA Tint has to say about it and go from there.

Maybe someone else can comment but I think they actually tint over the dot matrix with as few as bubbles as possible.

How did the paint work out for you? did you just paint it black? or the same color as your car?

I personally like the paint. Its painted black so from the outside all you see is black. My tint is 35% so its not TOO dark but not too light either. From the outside, this to me looks best and have absolutely no bubbles. From the inside all you see is a black band up across the top.

The downside of this procedure may be price. I got mine done at TNT Tint in Alexandria and I think they do great work as well. It cost me $160 to get the windows done and $90 for the spray paint job (Also you have to go to get the spray paint done around a week after the tint to let everything settle) so it was $250 total. If you have a sedan it may be slightly more but I cant confirm.

macr6, if you are in MD, try going to National Glass Tinting in Kensington. He did my car and if you have any issues, he always makes sure you're happy.

I got mine done at United Solar Tinting. I believe they are in laurel? it was less than $200 for sides and rear (have to find reciept for exact price). plus the guy just put the tint right over the dot matrix...didnt have any problems whatsoever and the tint has been on for about a year and it hasnt peeled or anything like that. hes done a few Gs and Zs so he knows what hes doing. I need to take my car back there again to get a darker shade.

I have a Vinyl on my Dot Matrix on the rear, even Lek (mbq 62) has it, it blinds in very well ... and it is not on the inside .. it is on the outside of the car and it goes well with the car. Keep in mind we also have OB's ... i dont know how that will look on a different color.. i guess it will look fine on the darker colors.

I had mine done in Frederick by a place called Dr. Tint. I don't remember what I payed but it wasn't over $300 and they used descent tint that is guaranteed for life not to fade or turn purple. They also have Lumar and Huper Optic if you want to spend the money. -James
