03-04 G coupe 6MT V. Greddy ST Civic SI 02
G guy had headers, exhaust, CAI
and this SI guy, my friend, had ST w/ stock internals.
he told me that they had 2 runs and G got smoked twice.
not really sure for the detail but w/ that kinda mod...does this sound ok?
i felt little bit shocked.
just wanted to share and my friend(si guy) still wants to run w/ me, which is pointless...

ST w/ stock internals? ... a civic needs more than a single turbo to beat a STOCK G. what year was the civic... i've raced a turbo civic.... and it kept up pretty well till about end of 2nd gear .. but by 4th i had him by 4+ cars.

Did you race the civic from a stop? A roll? If from a roll how fast were you going?
With my experience with civics...if he was FI'd and can drive decently...he should pull on you in the first few gears... I've raced a GSR swap with minor tuning and the car pulled on me from a launch by 3 cars then I passed it when I hit 3rd gear...
I also ran with a Type R JDM swap... and it pulled hard... So an FI'd civic is not unbelieveable that it'd beat a g....
Thats why you shouldn't be racing them anyways....
I think John had a run with a FI'd civic as well....

Lek, you are right, Turbo Civics probably have most of their power low end, i however raced him from a roll, after 40mph, he came from behind and we went at it, maybe it would be different if we went from a stop.

i think G coupe should be able to take a FI civic if the race goes on long enough.
of course that also depends on how modified the civic is...
turbo charged small displacement 4 banger cars tend to not have much at the top end. When I drove the EVO i noticed that 4th and 5th gears felt significantly weaker relative to the first 3.

well like i said earlier.
he is pushing 8psi w/ stock internals atm.
greddy turbo. i'd say top-notch manual driving skill.
knows how to do heel-toe, etc
anyone uses heel-toe here? 6mt owners?

i'd like to point out that a 4 banger can do much damage with a single turbo. my last car (92 gs-r) had a T3/T4 turbo running 9 psi. 275 whp/250ft/lb torque. since the car weighed 2800lb with me in it, yer looking at a decent power to weight ratio. it also depends on the tuning of the setup. i tuned my timing to deliver the most power in the upper rpm's to compliment the vtec and high redline. when u race top end, u live in the top end of the rpm's so you tune your power to this area. another big factor is transmission gearing. some honda's (jdm spec si-r) trannys have quick 1-3 gearing, thus they will be quick up to about 115ish. 4th gear in a honda will bring you to roughly about 120ish, 5th gear to about 150-155. this is why i tuned my timing for top end power to make up for the longer 5th gear ratio. I raced a 400 hp turbo supra and it was dead even until 145, then the power of the six took over. i've raced many cars, from M3's to Z05's and pulled away up top. its no surprise that your friend lost. don't sleep on honda's, those cars are the pioneers of the import automotive subculture we have today.
