Thats a risk you gotta take, but if you just got painted, I would cover the bumper with plastic. So what you look crazy driving down the highway with a covered bumper. I would do it!

To save a couple hundred dollars.... well a bit over a hundred dollars (cus of gas) to drive down there and get llumar over 3M, I would. I like llumars product much more.

specs may have changed though. check the thickness of each film. Lastly, I hope 3M isnt still yellowing over time. They may have fixed that.

As discussed in previous threads, I spent considerable time "interviewing" and visiting shops in the MD/DC/VA area. I finally settled on PROFORM in Ellicott City. 1-866-PRO-3682. Rob charged us $1095 and it was worth every penny of it! I would be reluctant to shop price as the principle criterion. That said, I don't know these folks nor do I know anything about their experience/track record.

For 1095 buck i can get about 3 repaints ,new front bumper, whole new body kit.All you realy need is the front bumper and maybe mirrors. It just seems like a rip to me.

Thanks for your input, I'll give it the weight it deserves.

I could have got the $400 Clear Bra right here in Rockville. Or I could have skipped the Clear Bra and periodically re-painted. That said, my wife only has 1700 miles on her car and it would either need a re-paint already or we would just have to accept numerous paint dings.

I was not arguing the case for or against a Clear Bra - just suggesting that price is not the entire equation. I made it clear that I knew nothing about the work of your friend.

Our experience was detailed here:

http://www.g35driver.com/forums/show...ight=Clear+Bra

Do you have any knowledge... of the experience level and track record of your friend(s)? Just curious, because you presumably have some basis for comparing the value of a $1095 Install vs an $800 install, without having seen at least one of them.

Your parents must be proud.

I hate it when children try to fit in with adults.

I know of a guy in Maryland who does group discounts. His name is Rob and his website is www.proformauto.com. He specializes in Clear Bra and is a 3M certified teacher for clear bra installation. I can call for you guys or you can tell him i gave you his name. Im pretty sure if you have enough guys, he will beat that price. He also has the best warrantee out there.

i spoke to customclear again and the 800 dollar price is no good... 800 is if you guys can get like 10 G's together and it's normally 850 for a G. sorry for the misunderstanding. i asked mbq to edit his original post a few days ago, but he apparently is too lazy... but it doesn't seem like anyone's interested anyway.
