John, I'd sign up on a Best Buy deal if you can. Mine came out to around 3.5K but having 30 months no interest to pay it off is great! Thats the best route to go I think. They regularly have 12-24 months no interest.

My room is a mess but I love this freakin t.v. - watching HD on it is just amazing. Didnt take a pic with the screen on but check it out in the store. I dont normally like Sony but they know what they're doing when it comes to t.v.'s IMO.

I got componentss for my DVD, Xbox and having surround sound is sweet!!

Plus you cant see it, but I also have a computer hooked up to the t.v. to act like my own Tivo there on the side.

I bought the Sony Wega 42" HDTV LCD projection last year as my birthday present to myself. I've loved it ever since!! I considered the DLP, but thought about there being moving parts in it, which can break, versus replacing just a bulb after a few years.
blahblahblah...

summary...
I'd definitely prefer the LCD.

If you consider DLP, I would wait a little longer. The only real drawback with DLP is the mechanical color wheel and the bulb life.

Word is that the bulb is going to be replaced with high intensity LEDs. And instead of using a colorwheel, different color LEDs will be used.

I wonder if the LEDs will ever be strong enough to duplicate the spectrum of bulbs. Thanks for that info though!
