Offical Highjack in progress......Well, ok so I went and bought some fireworks on Sunday by Arundle Mills, had to drive through a dirt parking lot(not fast) to leave and I pulled up to a light. I was on a slight decline(nose of car sloped down) and all of a sudden the car starts to idle very bad and stalls out. I try and restart it and it won't start......it finally starts and the car is knocking very loud and barley accelerates. This is after two attempts to start and horns blowing at me.....so I limp it to a parking spot and try and start again...same thing sputter and knocks......no check engine light........it dies again and then after trying to start it a 5th time it starts sputers real quick them runs fine. Still no cel's, but now the car runs fine. I do notice that the car idles very low some times.....I'm confused...any suggestions? As for parts, just an intake and spacer. Exhaust should be ordered, but I don't have that on yet.
My thoughts, water in the gas?

devon sounds like uve experienced the problem alot of ppl had w/ the CAI...there were some cases where people the cars would die while on the highway where it was REEEAL dangerous...i'll try and search for some threads for you both on this site and on my350z. Thats the only thing I can think of, but I am not sure about the knocking?? That could possibly be water in the gas...I would avoid the dealer until you can try and confirm whether its the CAI or it may potentially be your spacer. I had read that if the bolts on the plenum arent torqued properly you lose the vacuum pressure which can cause the stalling which you mentioned and the rough idling.
It's weird.....it haapened again today. I park on a slight decline and when I went out today to get lunch, the car was sputtering real bad and then died...I moved it to a flat surface and started it , let it run for 5 minutes and presto car runs fine. IU have had the intake forever now and never had an issue. It;s not under power that I have this problem, it's from the get go.
Hmm, the water in the tank scenario seems to stand out when you mention a decline for some reason. I believe gasoline has a lighter density (.6 g/mL) than H20 (~1g/mL) so it should float on top of the water (so waters at the bottom). Maybe when parking at a decline the fuel pump is pulling gas from the bottom of the tank (the water) which is whats stalling and causing the car to knock and die?? Yet when you park on a level surface the car starts and runs fine?? So this only occurs when your parking at a decline/incline??

That is correct. I park on a decline and it will do this.....I have since gone to Trak Auto and bought a bottle of fuel remover and dumped it in the tank. I will see what happens when I start the car again at 5. If this isn't it, I will pull the spacer out and take it to the dealer.
