I know we've beaten the tint subject to death here but I'm going to get my car tinted either this weekend or next so I'm going to ask one more Q about it. I was wondering how you guys who got your cars tinted dealt with that dot matrix stuff at the top of our rear window? I think I remember some people getting vinyl on the outside of the car....does that start to peel off with wear and tear from the weather and is it too noticible that it is on the outside? I'm just not sure I guess what the best option is to get done on that top part of the window. Thanks for the help...

 

You're right Baback, we have beaten this topic to death.

So how are we handling the dot matrix? In my instance, I think I'm the only one that has actually gotten the inside painted black. I personally think its the best looking one from the outside because all you see is black and it matches very well with the 35% tint I got. I went to TNT Tint in Alexandria and trust the guy that did mine. It was $160 for the car and $90 for the painting which had to be done 1 week later but personally, I felt it was worth it.

Some actually have their installers paint right over the dot matrix - I really owuldnt recommend this method. The installer may say they can do it however you still can also see tiny bubbles there if you look closely and if it were me, that would bug the heck outta me.

As for the vinyl, can't really speak about that because I'm not sure of the procedure but whatever you do, do it right the first time and then not have any regrets.

 

I got my car tinted at LA TINT in Woodbridge. I asked them how they would handle it, and they said the would tint right over the dot matrix after applying some type of spray on it. There are still bubbles around the dot matrix but only noticeable up close. I am very happy with the job they have done and were very professional about it. I would reccomend this shop, however, they are a little expensive ($250). I opted for their top of the line film though which also comes with a lifetime warranty.

 

California Tint Does A Great Job And It Is Only About 180.00 To 200.00 Bucks For The Coupe.

 

ya thats where i got mine done as well...calif. tint...i have to go back for the vinyl in the back window though....

 

They did the same (handled the dot matrix the same way) on my car for 190 with the metallic film but I went to Express Tints in Centreville, VA. They said they would do 170 per coupe for the regular tint or 190 for the medium metallic tint that Arjunz has on his, this is good for anyone in the G club (courtesy of my best friends lil bro). Just mention my nick name on the forums or the G35 club.

 

So both you and Arjunz got the metallic tint at Express Tints in C'ville, were there bubbles like stylez09 said he had at LA Tint?

 

the didnt have that part tinted, they left that part undone and had vinyl put over that area.

 

No, I had my dot matrix tinted there Johnny boy :P, I had them spray a solution on it to make it adhere better, check mine out at the next meet this saturday at the bbq, baback. Also I got the hi grade...w/e it was metallic reflective or something. I kind of like Arjunz better than mine and his the mid grade, mine is really reflective when you look at it straight on :\.

 

AJ and I had ours done at the same place. We got it vinyled. Looks great. Love it.

 

Since about 4 of you have gone to Express Tints and are satisfied I'll probably end up going there. Does anyone have their contact info? I googled them and got nothing. Or if no contact info, can you tell me where in Centreville they are located.....I lived there for about 18 yrs so I know my way pretty well. Thanks for all the help guys!

 

^^ What Byrnie and Lek said ... i kinda think the reflective looks nice on Byrnie's car ... i have Vinyl put on the outside .. instead of the inside .. and because my car is black .. it camouflages very well ... Byrnie couldn't even make out that i had a vinyl on when he had a look at it. I got my tint for $170 .... I took Lek to the same place and got his car tinted .. he is really happy with it .. this place is right off route 7 .. right after Baron Cameron... its right next to the seven eleven ... just tell him you belong to the G35 Club ... or let me know and i'll contact the guy for you.

 

I didnt go to Express Tint .. i got it tinted off the place off Route 7 .. they are fairly new and do an awesome job. Ryan (Byrnie) got his tinted from Express tint for $190. His tint job looks nice as well .. i like the reflective on his color..

 

Guys guys guys, would you PLEASE be careful about your word choice. I mean seriously Arjun, not sure how you'd know this bit of information.
