Now that's what I'm talking about. Who cares about driving fast in a straight line. Taking the twisties, now that takes a bit of skill and of course good suspension and tires. But then again, my friend with a 4 door civic has smoked a lot of faster cars in the twisties when they were racing. You'd have to see it to believe it. I've been in the car with him and I feel pefectly safe and normal. He's always saying "you know it's all about knowing the transfer of weight..."

byrnie,

evolution is a museum in chantilly that has basically captured human and animal evolution on a display in a timeline type of format. they start off with single cell organisms, work their way to land crawling fish w/ lungs and to monkey's and eventually to humans. If you've never been, take a weekend to check out the place. But dont buy anything from their 'gift shop' as everything there seems to be overpriced!!

Yeah this "museum" also has that dude Darwin's theories in it too. Should check it out when you meet up.

Wow, if they actually had that it sure would make that theory more plausible!

Btw rescheduled to the 14th? I'm away on business that weekend. Oh well.

Yes. May 7th we had a meet scheduled. I still posted regarding your drive however. The next "club" meet will be on the 14th though and I think we'll plan that as the Skyline Drive trip. I mentioned your drive though if people still wanna join you guys.

Hope thats cool.

P.S. - I believe Mother's Day is on the 8th.

^ hahaha..

I do agree, the twisties are way more fun. You'll learn a lot about your car this weekend by driving them. Its all about weight transfer, and downshifting for us 6mts

Downshifting going into a corner can be very tricky. The correct way....for those who don't know... is to Clutch all the way down, SHIFT into the gear you want, REV to the proper RPMS, RELEASE clutch quickly. Knowing what RPMs you need to rev to is a part of knowing your car. If you downshift wrong going into a corner the car will "skip" and you will lose traction for a second and this can cause an accident.

Lek,

first get to the meet on time, then come share your wealth of gran turismo IB license test knowledge!!! LOOOL!! U know im j/k man!! i got nothing else on you so thats what im gonna keep using!! I simply put mine in 'D' mode and slow/down speed up by pushing the brake pedal!! I dunno about the other 5AT guys, but i actually downshift/upshift on the turns....i know its bad b/c at times the car is sitting at like 5-6k rpm waiting for the straight away before i shift again!!

Is it MBQ or Lek, I'm confused. Regardless, your response omits "heel-toe". If you want to enter a corner quickly and still turn through the corner (as opposed to just plowing into the hillside), you better be braking as you downshift. Managing to do both simultaneously and smooothly is what is most rewarding about this car in the twisties. Can't wait!

You're actually getting better tractions at those high rpms in a lower gear. I like 3rd gear at about 5-6k rpms the best. The car seems to stick to the road better. Driving the same speed on a higher gear with lower rpms makes the car unstable. Don't be mad because I got more cars and money in gran turismo than you lol hahaha

Puria's got jokes, the jokeman writing down funny stuff, the jokorama making fun of byrnie when he can't even read a calendar to find out when mother's day is :P.
