Ok guys - I talked with Puria about this and figured this might be a good time to have a NGC DIY day. I am installing the 3/8" spacer and UR pulley on my car, both will be here by Wednesday. We might need a decent location to do this, anyone have ideas or a garage with tools?

If anyone has any hook-ups on installing springs & pads can you let me know?

Any ideas? Can I have any more ? marks in one post?

 

I have no input to add but I will come to learn 'cause I know pretty much nothing about car modding.

 

My friend has a shop. What kinda springs and pads are you trying to install?

 

350z H-Tech springs, Hawk Street pads

 

Hawk pads - I'm actually about to order some myself. I've heard a lot of good things about them. But hopefully they aren't harmful to the rotors. I know greenstuff eats the rotors like nuts. Let me ask my friend how much it is to install springs. Pads are easy to install. You're just replacing them right? Do you have brembos?

 

Yeah, I'm just replacing them. I do have brembo's. Puria and I both ordered Hawk Street pads, I've heard good things about them.. Thanks, let me know.

 

The pads are easy. Do you need to replace them right away? We can replace them ourselves. My friend can show us. I'll find out about the shocks. As long as we dont detach the brakeline we won't have to bleed the brakes.

 

Ive changed pads about a billion times but not on my G!! Very simple nonetheless as its just about identical on ANY car you do. If we got a place i'll be more than happy to show ya'll!! I might need to bring some tools w/ me to make it easier....but once you actually see what it involves...you'll be so pissed when you realize the dealer charges $350 for the same service which takes no more than 30 min!!

 

Yeah Puria, I'm not car savy but my friend looked at my brembo's and was like...damn your pads look really easy to change. Also bleeding the brakes would be easier as well because of how it's "designed". I'm sure we can do it ourselves.

I talked to my friend right now he said he doesn't know how much because he doesn't know how hard it is. He asked of it fit perfectly or does he have to mod anything. He said if you get an estimate from a respectable place he will beat their price.

 

ya i dont really bleed the breaks unless i need to change calipers or if I want to use Motul fluid or switch out to stainless steel lines. I perform all my mods myself including maintenance (tune ups) and always have. I refuse to pay anyone to perform a mod/maintenance that I enjoy doing myself . what can i say im a fanatic... greg btw, your pads will have to be ground, i'll make sure to bring a file if/when we change em!!

 

Pads are EASY!!!! 10 minutes each wheel. But, if your rotors are toast the you can get them turned or just put on new rotors. Rotors are easy too. Intakes are easy, exhaust is easy. headers PITA!. Springs I have never tried , but I would imagine that wouldn't be to hard. I'm game if you find the place im in.

 

Springs are hard because I you have to compress them. Unless you have the tools to do so.

 

You can get them compressed at any shop though for pretty cheap.

 

Guys, I'd recommend a DIY day a few weeks after this date. That way anyone that has anything they need installed, we could possibly do it all at the same time so we dont leave a few stragglers behind that want some easy things installed.

 

What date should that be? Time for me to order some goodies. I should have the lip installed before then though, hopefully I'll get shipment no later than the end of next week. We should do it at someone's house. Unless someone has a moving tool box.
