Could someone afford an M3 if they really want to? Of course, but 99% of people usually buy something they can afford and perhaps stretch it by little. If you could afford an M3 and you bought a G35, you didn't do your homework. But if you could afford an M3 but the G35 was enough for you, that's a different thing.
