People love the service now and will get used to it and rely on their numbers they signed up for. Then Google will charge you a fee per month and then you'll have to end up paying for it... Standard business model.

I don't think that is the plan. The standard account is fully enabled with the current features and will remain like that. However, its possible they limit the # of minutes or add fees for extra features.
I think part of their merging process will end up placing ADs on the site. Just a guess.
I will bet that they have some sort of fee associated to it. Maybe it will include more added features you can pay for and leave this free service as it is. I'd imagine Google will continue to add onto what it has now. Or possibly add in advertising as you mentioned and if you want no advertising you'll have to pay a monthly fee.

Yeah. I'm certain - they will do something to generate revenue. Gotta make that 50 mil back some how, haha
ADs would be fine with me. I never look at the gmail ones

I know that business model...isn't that the same on they use to sell crack?
Unfortunately I only have the 1 mobile # now. I don't have a home phone and even though I moved back in with the parents I don't want their # ringing when someone calls me. And work sucks b/c there is no way to dial us direct. You have to go through voice prompts or a receptionist. Lame!
