I've been lucky enough that mine has no bands or clouds. If anything, it just has minor "judder" and black crush...

Here's a pic before I ran the wires behind the wall
I have done some research, and the Sharp Aquos is #2 on the top ten list of LCD's to buy.

nice leaning bookcases! Was going to get some of those but decided on a big puzzle bookcase instead.

Its a nice setup you got Is that the same unit stand you have in your first picture? The first one looks a little darker.

42" is the threshold of which i would buy an LCD. Anything larger, you have to do plasma as it can reproduce the picture better, IMO. I think the rule of thumb is that the larger you go, the better plasma will be vs. lcd. Personally, at 42", i'd take a 720p plasma over a 1080p LCD anyday. Unless you are sure you will be playing PS3 in 1080p or getting a BlueRay player, i think you'll be more happier with a 720p plasma than this lcd. I don't know how bias it is, but many high end audio/video stores don't even carry Sharp Aquo, they say it's garbage (they may be bias..hehe). Another recomendation is..if you are going LCD route to save money, don't go brand name and do more research. From my research, i've found that most name brand LCD use the same screen as most generic. They simply put it in their shell, throw in some industry jurgon and jack the prices. I also noticed, that LCD are pretty crappy at displaying regular definition cable/satelite tv. I have both an LCD and plasma in my salon, and the plasma comes out much clearer IMO. My 2 cents

edit: check out fatwallet.com and search "lcd" and "plasma" and you will probably find a better deal.

1080P really comes to live with larger TVs. 50Inch +

The difference between P and I is that. P draws all the lines at the same time. Where as 1080I draws 50% first and then another %50. You won't see the difference unless you go really high. See if you can save some money going to the I route. Perhaps a bigger tv with the the money you save. Otherwise if 42" does it then go for it. But if you are going High Def, you might as well get something nice and big to get the full effect.

The room that the TV is going in has a lot of ambient light. LCD's perform better in well lit areas. When going bigger than 42" or 46” on an LCD the quality will suffer. I was going to get a plasma but for my situation the LCD seems to be the better choice.
