Angry No Vaseline!

Stopped by Altered Atmosphere recently to inquire about lowering my 06' 6mt sedan. The guy there suggested using Tein Basics. I told him that I had just purchased some 19" AME's and was awaiting there arrival I also stated that I was a little strapped for cash after this purchase. His response was that I should just do the coilovers because if I try a different setup that doesnt work i'll be paying them $500.00 each time I want them to replace the suspention, (thats just for labor). He proceeded to tell me that they charge a minimum of $500.00 for this work. The kicker is as he's telling me this there was sign posted behind him stating that their standard labor rate is $79.00 an hour. WTF!
ANY OTHER SHOPS IN THE AREA? I line in Columbia MD. Thanks.

that's pretty shady if you ask me... it only takes 2 hours at max to install Basic coilovers, less if you're just doing a spring swap. I say find another shop cuz that price is rediculous, you could get a used set of Basics for that much.

Thats what I thought. While your available. At their highest height, will the basics drop my sedan so low that I will need a camber kit? If so, I think I will use '06 Z springs and struts up front and an '06 coupe springs and shocks for the rear. Thanks.

at the highest height the basics will lower you -1.4F/0R. The will put your front camber at about -1.8/1.9 My camber is at -2.3/2.4 and i'm dropped about 1.7/1.8" it's all up to you on whether you think you need a camber kit or not, even with Z springs your front camber will be slightly out of spec.

haha, $500? goodness. I'm not sure about the sedan, but i don't know if the Basic is necesarry. I honestly don't know why people sweat coilover. Other than the autocrosser, people simply don't adjust their height or damper setting. I heard the basic is super hard and stiff. If they want to charge $500 for install, don't ever go back there. In fact, you should probably talk to the owner to let them know the people they have on their staff.

500.00 bucks! WTF. You can do it yourself and break a few bolts and it won't cost you that much. They are saying labor rate is 79.00 hourly then waht are they doing taking an hour on each coilover?
