Have you checked NALP's exchange site? I would think that listings from almost any DC law student would give you a good indication of where your colleagues in the area live.

When I studied here, I subleased my apt. in Rosslyn to an NYU student who spent a summer in DC.

crystal city is a pretty nice area, lots of bars and restaurants and a huge mall (pentagon city) close by, you can always take the metro to DC for the DC style night life.

Crystal City is pricey as most of that area is commercial/government office space and the residential areas that are available cater to politicians and the affluent. Good luck if you can find a decent rent in that area.

In terms of access, take a metro into most major areas of DC and you are set to party, except that the DC metro does not run NY metro hours. Most likely you'll still need a car or taxi to go home if you plan on staying in the city past 2AM.

FYI, this isn't NYC. If you want game in this area, you need to pimp a ride cuz offering a girl metro back to your crib is a nonstarter...

Columbia heights is a nice area right in the middle of the city with easy access to just about anywhere.
