This is barring any aeorodynamic and tire contact patch differences which may enhance or deteriorate performance between the two cars. That said, the coupe adds additional features that make it a far better track performer than the sedan. The VLSD, tighter suspension, active steer, and dual mass flywheel (is it lighter?) are features not available in the sedan. Modded, the rulebook can be thrown out the window, but bone stock there are clear case advantages for the coupe in spirited driving conditions over the sedan. Although there are significant intersects and commonality with both coupe and sedan, I see them as different variants of the same ancestral DNA. This explains the slightly different market segment between the two cars.
I know I'm not in the club, but there's a bit if misinformation going around and I'd like to clarify.

The 03/04 model year sedans were marginally lighter than the coupe. Marginally. The official Infiniti published numbers for the 05 model year show the exact same weight, for the 6MT at least. I don't know about 06.

The VLSD is available for the sedan. I don't know when it was first offered, but it came standard as part of the sports package on the 05, regardless of tranny. The 03/04 sedans had a softer suspension than the coupe stock, but the "sports suspension" had the same spring rates as the coupe. In 05/06, the coupe added its own sports suspension. The differences between the sports suspension for the coupe and sedan in 05/06 are the rear spring rages are higher for the coupe, and the sedan comes with 18's instead of 19's.

And of course the coupe has wider stock wheels/rubber, and a slightly lower center of gravity. And *much* better seats.

And you are correct. Rear active steer is not available for the sedan; but it only first appeared on the coupe in 06.

Not at all. Not at all. I read most of the coupe v. sedan threads; I (sometimes) learn something new.

In this particular post, I didn't want to get pulled down into any subjective stuff, just wanted to state the facts. And you also mentioned the dual-mass flywheel. I don't know if the sedan has that or not. I can't imagine infiniti producing a variant of the 6mt tranny just for the sedan though.

I guess because I dont read the sedan forums, I never really hear about any races or fantastic slip times. Likely due to the reason I stated above though.
