alpha was the height of street fighters engine man. the Vs games were really fun, but it was too extravagant and unbalanced, and not very technical. Street Fighters Alpha 3 to date is my favorite SF game due to its intricate -ism system and the cancels as well as the free form supermoves. Street Fighters III 3rd Strike rocks also. I dig Technical fighting games more than the over the top type.

One VS game was very good though, Capcom vs SNK 2, one of my favorites that pits king of fighters chars vs street fighters.

Btw you can get some great hint about the age of people here by the games they listed

Tie Fighter, how could I forget that and Pirates. Pretty much any Microprose game rocked. Remember Lightspeed?

Starcraft was def. the best game ever made for me. But no really, a real list may be:

1. Starcraft
2. Madden Series
3. Tecmo Bowl
4. Contra
5. Super Mario 1

How you guys leave off the Tecmo Bowl?? I think my list were games that were pretty revolutionary for its time.

Street Fighter II (arcade) - Remember putting quarters on the screen to signify that you had next.
Street Fighter II (snes) - I used to go home for lunch when I was in elementary school just to play.
Baseball Stars (nes) - This was the first game that I played where you were able to customize your team and players (i.e. batting power, speed, arm strength, uniforms...)
Metal Gear (nes) - Disguising as a cardboard box...need I say more.
Super Mario Bros 3 (snes) - Luigi was the man.

I played so much video games when I was a kid that I lost interest in it rather quickly. The last consoles I bought were SNES and Genesis...lol.

I never tried Lightspeed. I do have to agree with yacoub on Mechwarrior 4, but I'll take any version of that series.

Warcraft blew my mind the first time I played it. It had just come out and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Starcraft was good, but it always felt like a good looking version of warcraft to me.

Let's see if I can come up with a Commodore 64 top 5:

1. Beach Head
2. B.C.'s Quest for Tires
3. Ace 2
4. Airborne Ranger
5. Bruce Lee

and Atari 2600:

1. Combat
2. Pitfall
3. River Raid
4. Defender
5. Zaxxon

Jess, how did I forget Baseball stars??? I used to have leagues in that with my friends and play that game all day over summer vacation. Game was cool you could play in space and other places. We'd make up teams with our friends from middle school. Yeah, we were cool.
