Am i doing something wrong?

I see a bunch of people running mid 13s and high 13s. I cant for the life of me break into the 13s. Fastest I've gotten was 14.03. I'm running all stock G37S Sedan 6mt. Tires are Michelin Sport AS3s all around. Launching at 3500 mostly. What are y'all doing I'm not? I'm power shifting to hit low 14s. Mad spin in second gear first gear is pretty bad with wheel hop most of the time. Barking 3rd gear. Finishing by shifting into 4th gear right at the last 2ft of track.

Stickier tires. Wheel spinning is losing time. If you aren't getting a clean launch with little or no wheel spin you won't have a fast time. What's your 60' time?

On my stock 2008 G 5at I ran 13.7 and I think the elevation plays a factor, so some places it will be easier to get better times

I'd like to see a break down of your time slip. Your 60 foot time is critical, as well as the weather conditions and track elevation. You should also be shifting as close to te redline as possible.

Do you mean you see people at your same track running 13s? Or do you mean people online?

If online, you need to compare elevation, temperature, humidity etc., before you can tell what you are really running.

Get yourself some proper Summer rubber, either some Potenza RE-11's or some Michelin Pilot Super sports....

Also...youre launching a bit too high. Try launching at 2500 instead of 3500, and DO NOT slam on the gas pedal until you feel yourself hook really well. A lot of people make this mistake of immediately going WOT upon dumping the clutch. You should see way less wheel spin and much more traction this way.

Also, always have less than a quarter tank when youre at the strip and take out your spare tire.

Im sure you know, but A/C should always be OFF!

^^^ Good old school tricks there, hmmmm if I remember correctly every 100lbs shed equals a tenth shed in time. IMO you almost gotta be perfect with a 6spd. GL!

Or if you really want a fast time, get a pair of drag radials in the rear for 1/4 mile runs. Low 13s, high 12s are possible.

Yea i was lookin asset other people's runs online. Read guys runnin high 13s on oem bridgestones. And from what i read my Michelin as3s are just a step below the super sports. The sort sports are gonna b my next set of tires. And im conatantly getting 2.1-2.2 60ft runs every run. It bogs down if i launch lower too.

Stop dumping the clutch and feather it. Use it to control wheel spin.

For the street the AS3 and PSS are fairly close. The PSS is miles better on a drag strip. A much bigger performance difference. If you track a lot buy a pair of rear wheels with PSS, or better yet drag radials and just put them on the rear for the track.

And keep practicing. You'll get better.

I dump the clutch but i dont slam the gas til i feel the tires catching. I think it may just be the track. Aint no way i can chirp 3rd on the streets but i can on the track. I ran low 14s in my auto 5.5gen Maxima. Idk how the time in the G is coming so close to my old car. And. Was runnin 245/45/18 6.5 gen wheels wrapped in contiprocontacts

I usually run about 22 PSI in my rear tires. Make sure you stay out of the water box, then do a quick burn out before staging.

This might be a silly question (I don't drag) but your traction control is off right? That seems like it would inhibit a little speed just by the nature of how it works. Am I off base with this thought?
