Top Speed on the Track

Hello everyone. So I was driving along on the track the other day (my first time), and I wanted to see how fast the car (2012 G37S Coupe) could go. It seems, assuming that the speedometer is accurate, that the top speed is approximately 148MPH. However, I thought it was supposed to be 155MPH. Does this only apply to 2012 model year coupes, or what? What is the fastest speed you have reached on the track with your coupes (and what model year is it)?

I see. I thought there was something wrong with the speedometer. I am guessing that is because the governor is set at a different speed for the 6MT? Why do they do that?

Dunno why. But that's what's been reported. Gearing maybe?

I thought it could have been the gearing, too. Then I thought that did not make sense. Maybe I am wrong, but wouldn't the gearing (and aerodynamics, among other things) only affect the true top speed of the car? 149 and 155 are the limited top speeds, but I do not think the gearing is different enough on the 7AT as compared to the 6MT to prevent it from reaching at least 155 (due solely to the gearing).

It would be interesting to hook up the car to an obd reader and use a data recorder/torque to see what speed the ecu is actually reading vs what's the speedo is showing. Maybe use a gps recorder too to compare results.
