taking the vert to the drag strip @ atlanta dragway

So what do you guys think the vert will do in a quarter mile?
It's 7AT and I'm thinking 14.7 or lower.

Any AT tips for the drag strip?
So far I've read, ds mode and just punch it. I will try that and shifting manually also.

Any not to do scenarios? Vdc off?

I'm betting you will see less than a 14.7 for sure, hopefully closer to a 14.2-14.0. It's really all in the launch, get those 60' times nailed and you'll be in for a good run. I guess you could experiment with turning the VDC off and trying some power braking vs. punching it off the line. Some have said that shifting the 7AT manually was faster at the strip, but it takes some really good technique to make sure you aren't hitting the limiter or shifting too soon.

I assume that you are drag racing your car for fun to determine it's best quarter mile time and the info above illustrates several variables. However, competitive drag racing for street cars is based on a pre determined dial in.

The key to dial in drag racing is consistency. You can run 16 second quarter miles but if you can run the same time each run you will win the event.

That's it, Barry, just for fun. Until the G sedan and G coupe guys come out to play haha. However the temps out tomorrow will be the high 80's at 7:30pm. Likely that will also have an effect on the run times and effective WHP.

Take out everything mobile from your car that you can and leave it home (floor mats, spare, etc.). Go there with as little fuel as possible. Have fun.

Well in that case have a great time & post up the slips when you are done. The most important thing for you to nail is reaction time!

PS - the turbo guys are gonna hate that weather!

Pull paddles just before 7k and the shift lag will click you right before redline. Not sure of the weight on a vert, but my stock sedan did a beat of 13.60 and consistent 13.7-13.8. VDC off with 1/4-1/2 tank & no burnouts (waste of street tread). Just pull around the water box, stage, and hit it. Such a blast. Have fun!

Thanks for the tip. Sedans are supposedly faster than the coupe I'm hearing.

I recently drove a G37X Sedan loaner when my Vert was getting serviced & it was QUICK. I dont know if it was the auto (and I am accustomed to driving MT) or that it was just quick - but, I was impressed!

Have fun & do the Vert community proud!

I forgot to mention the no burnout policy on street tires, very good point to have mentioned here.
