First time at the track racing the G
Hello, went to Virginia Motorsports Park last night. Weather was fairly humid and in the 70's. I have an Athens Blue '08 G37S 6MT w/premium and nav, Magnaflow catback, and 11,000 miles. I got 5 runs in, which varied wildly, but my best was as follows:
60'.....2.049
1/8....8.889 @ 80.12 mph
1/4....13.722 @ 101.81 mph
I was fairly pleased with the time, not as much with the trap speed. How is that 60 foot time, considering 6MT and stock tires? Is there a lot of room for improvement? Also, are people finding better times shifting at or slightly prior to redline? I went redline for all 3 shifts.
My goal before going was just to break into the 13's. For reference, a E46 M3 only did 13.6 @ 102. A 135i did 13.5 at 106.

yeah thats about where you should be. i got 13.7 @ 102mph back in november and it was 28deg out and 15psi in the rear tires and i was wheel hopping all over the place..(i was bone stock) cant wait for warmer weather and some sticky tires!
btw an auto G37 did 13.5 @ englishtown NJ, im sure for a fact it the tires werent so cold 13.5 is very doable bone stock.

My 5at G37s with stillen gen 3, greddy tic, and exhaust depot Y-pipe running on 20s @30psi did a 13.6 @103mph, My 60ft was a 2.0, Im gonna try running with my stock 19s, aiming for a 13.4 the next time I go. This was done at Atco raceway 4 days ago.

Oh Yeah, forgot to mention, my buddy with his 08 335 4dr auto ran the exact same time as I did. Bmw 17 inch rims, 2 inch smaller than our stock, with upgraded wider tires, oem was 225 45 17, he had on 255 40 17 Bridgestone So2 or something like that, and he had and intake and a stage 2 chip in his car. FAIL lol
My reaction times were between .522 and .705 on all 5 runs. No preparation other than removing the spare/jack, and being very low on gas (warning light had just come on prior to racing). How about tire pressure, should I let some out of the rears for better traction? Also, what about the shifting at or before redline issue? Anyone have a definitive answer?

I just ran the 1/8th mile track today, first time ever, I def. had a blast! but my time weren't so good.
best I ran was 9.27, 60ft was 2.1 and react Time was .2
the weather was bad, it was 95 degrees out and light breeze. I was hoping to get under 9 secs.
btw, whats the best method to run the 5AT? I preload the throttle to 3K.
