New Jersey Autocross

Link to pics and video from autocrossing the G last weekend. The videos seem to work if you download them first, then try and play them.

We were in the parking lot of the new, New Jersey Motorsports Park. Awesome looking track and I can't wait to be on it the 21st. Anyone else interested it's an SCCA Performance Driving Experience.

Definitely show up, I'm not sure when the next South Jersey AutoX event is, if it doesn't conflict with the PDX on the 21st or the Philly region event at Citizens Bank Park on the 22nd I'll be there.

Gah I want to run my 35 sedan so bad. Took my old 5 series out (not the best car on the track) and when I went to trade it in for my g35 they took OFF money because they saw how chewed up the tires were and couldn't understand why!

Looks like you've got racing wheels though to solve that issue. I just don't want to run into any warranty issues or stuff like that.

If the only issues was pads/rotors/tires I would for sure. I'll live vicariously through you for now

Will do! I'll have the in car camera up and I'm trying to talk someone into filming from the outside. I can't understand why someone WOULDN'T want to spend all day at a race track watching cars???

The second set of wheels/tires is really helpful for racing, but sometimes a pain in the butt to swap twice a day..... BFG R1's are no good on the street.

Correct, March 22nd @ Citizens Bank Park. 0800 Showtime if you want to race. And here's a link to register and save some time before if you want:

Darn, I got either brand new stock 19s or brand new 20s, is it really gonna chew up your tires? I've never been to an autox event, mostly atco straightaways if anything.

Nah, you should be ok. Just don't drive like it's a drift event...your tires will last longer and they won't throw you out. If it were me I would go with 19's over 20's, more sidewall and possibly a smaller diameter.

I dont mind selling them but its just the fact that nobody is willing to pay for the right amount, and you know, they call me crazy when I ask $1800 for the complete set, but Its perfectly fine to pay $800-900 for a rim only at the dealer. Not to mention that its absolutely nothing out of the norm to pay $5500-6000 for a set of 20s with tires. My rims and tires are brand new take offs, I bought 20s like a week after I got my cars and it has around 300 miles on them with no marks at all on them. And you know what, when its time for me to sell my car and I need to look for a set of stock wheels, I wont be able to find a set for the price I sold them for. I'll probably end up paying $1200 for rims only and another $1000 for tires. lol

Well if you are doing autocross for the first time, make sure you go to the novice course walk and LISTEN to the instructor...you will feel pretty bad if you keep getting off course calls and no time slips! Go slower the first run, make sure you have the course down and learn where you can and can't push the car. G's are HEAVY and like to powerslide coming out of turns with the traction control off. Once you have the course down try running with TCS on and off to see which works better. I personally run it off becuase it retards the throttle too much coming out of very sharp turns, but then you have no safety net for spin control....just depends on how you drive.
