So I recently bought a ducktail spoiler and it came with 3M tape, is it a good idea to just use the tape or should I do something else??

 

Mine is only held on by 3M tape, but i laid down more tape. Pretty much any flat surface that touches the car, i added 3M tape. I've had the spoiler on for maybe 4 years now and no issues.

 

If you got it off eBay be careful, mine had to be shaved down on one side so it laid flat the whole way across. It was a carbon fiber one that came with 3M tape.

I had a body shop cut a hole for the rear view camera and shave it down. I believe they also used a secondary adhesive but not 100% sure.
