ECUTek

All,

While researching the UpRev tune I came across ECUTek. I have already ordered this and just waiting for the cables to come in. They do all the tuning remotely. I will update again on the results that I get. Is there anyone else out there that has had this done? Below is the email I received from the tuner.

This is email from ECUTeK...

Ok, so here is what we are offering;

For 449.99 you get a full blown calibration, dialed into your car via remote data logging.

The service does require a hardware to OBD interface cable. There are two options for this;

1)If you are in the US,we offer a 14 day free rental on cables for those who don't wish to purchase. You simply pay a 100% refundable deposit, and USPS flat rate shipping costs.If you require the cable for longer, there is a 25.00USD charge per week.

2)If you prefer to purchase,we offer free shipping inside the US. The cable/interface is yours to keep, and can be used to send data for updated files anytime you wish. Cables are not limited to one car/one make/one calibration, and can be used on many different platforms for tuning and data.

Sorry we do not offer the rental deal outside the US.

What can we do for you? Well as one of the oldest Ecutek Master Tuners, and a over 20 years in the ECU tuning business, quite a bit!

A little bit of what we can do; We will adjust the open and closed loop fueling, all of the timing tables, throttle mapping, VVT cam timing, EGR tables, and dwell. We will also do a few little tricks that we don't share, but you will feel in the seat of your pants!

Here is how this works;

Once you place an order, we will send out a hardware kit that includes your license, and a cable to interface your car to your laptop. When it arrives, you will download our software from the server( very simple process), and hook up to your car.

You will follow a few quick instruction(sent with the hardware) and take a quick screen shot to send to us via email.

I will personally review your information, and write your "base" file, which as the name implies is the starter calibration, and the first file you will load. I will email this back to you, usually within 45 min to an hour, and you can then load it using the same hardware software.

We will then do a series of tests to get data on your car. These are logged using the other great feature of the proecu hardware/software, then sent to us, again, via email. I then adjust the file to make it perfect to your car, your type of driving, and your environment.

If any of this seems daunting, don't worry, we are here 24/7 to walk you through the process, and even take over remotely should you have an issue. We even have small laptops we can send you as a loan, should you need one!

Time wise, the process can take as little as one weekend afternoon, it all depends on your schedule, and how much free time you have to spend doing data logs. The typical turn around time on ADJ files( the corrected base file) is about 30 min during the workday, and 45-50 min's in the evening after 5ish.

And yes you get all this for 449.00, and a 100% money back guarantee if your not totally happy with our service and your results!

Thanks Shivers. I wish I would have read that before I ordered. It all makes sense now. My cable still have not been shipped and I have sent 3 emails asking questions without a response.

Best of luck j.curt. If you used a CC, you can always work that route to get your money back.

Yup. It's the last few pages of the groupbuy thread that went south.

From: Framingham Ma,
He's good, But $1200, I explored that option to the end, Just cant see spending twice as much for something I still haven't seen proven better than UPREV? Visconti is a great guy, But $1200 is a lot. :/ I stayed with UPREV.

There are a few reviews comparing the two, one of which is on this forum and they said EcuTek was better.

Im actually more interested in how each of them tweaks the 7AT....I feel like I would get more of a performance (perceived rather than actual) difference from the transmission acting like it should vs any bolt ons that I could add. But since its an overall tune (I dont think they can do just the tranny), I would get as many bolt-ons as I want before I get the actual tune.

From: Framingham Ma,
They only thing you can to with the trans is up the line pressure, I had then done when I had my SC, The trans would throw you into the set, Shifts where VIRM at WOT.

I emailed the company last night after I posted and got a response right away. My cables have been shipped and I can track them coming to me by tomorrow. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt right now. I will keep everyone posted during the process. Hopefully this is worth the time and money.

Check this: https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...tek-tunes.html

They mentioned the shifts with EcuTek felt different and better than shifting with the UpRev. Maybe it was more than just whatever tranny tweaks were done (judging by the amount of UpRev "custom throttle program" posts Ive seen, it could just be a throttle position thing) but at least that person noticed it.

And maybe thats why they cant really tune just the tranny....its the interaction of everything as a whole drivetrain.

$1200 is an ouchie, though....especially considering Id add an exhaust before the tune, and since I want an Ark it would be another $1200 on top of that.

Maybe I can convince the wife she wants the G so I can go buy something with moar power. Be interesting to see how much the Q50ER is if its ever produced.

my uprev tune on my transmission made my shifts noticeably much firmer and somewhat rough until I figured out how to feather the throttle just right.

I am happy but I can see how some people would not like the way that feels on the car

I thought John's tune was $950 and that included the cable? He ran a really good sale last Black Friday, so it may be worth the wait.
