Thanks UPS

I shipped out my headlights on Monday to Oneighty to get some work done and paid UPS to Pack and Ship. Well I insured for 800.00... good thing because they arrived today and were damaged. I called UPS and filed a claim but I havent had to do this before. Has anyone else had to file an insurance claim with them? What is typcially the process and how long would it take for me to get reimbursed? I would like to get my headlights back sooner than later.

that sucks man.

It was a total pain for me. They usually come by the house to pick up the package and inspect it and get back to you.

At first they did not want to comply because of the way i "packed" it, but after a few phone calls they agreed.

Sorry to see that, do you have a spare set of lights or are you just parking the G in the mean time? Looks like they really got hammered

It will just be parked. It is just a bummer as I have no idea how long till my car is back together. I just got my new HID and Fog light HID conversion from DD and now its just going to sit and taunt me till I get my headlights back.

Well their claims department is going to call you and tell you that your claim has been denied because you did not package them up properly. Don't get upset when they tell you this. I think it is just standard protocol for them. It has happened many time time to us here at my shop. They always blame us for poor packaging techniques LOL Just make sure to fire right back and tell them the UPS Store packaged them up for you. Have your receipt handy and next time I say you use FedEx. Good Luck

I can help you, 100%.
They will not pay even if insured.
Long story short, had to sue them in small claims.
Bought box at ups center & I packed.
They claimed it was not packed properly.
I was able to prove the mishandling of the item & got full insurd value.
Keep the box, on the bottom if the box is a marking with"burst strength"
Keep your reciept indicatinga you paid for them to pack.
(Look up the ups tariff on line)
Bottom line, they will say some lab tested the box & it wasn't the correct box.
Any box shipped via UPS requires a 200 psi "burst strengths" to withstand the automated sorting system.

They packed it wrong & ill bet mishandled.
If they don't pay your claim in full, but a new headlight have it installed & file a suit if they don't pay your claim.

Hope this helps you, good luck op.
The key is the tariff ( that's where all the fine print is)
If you go to ups site, you can view tariff is a PDF file.

Be ready for a denial.
Sure as you paid for insurance, they just look to deny.
Technically they packed it, it's in them.
Ups & fed ex like to blame the box.
As others have mentioned.
Good luck with the claim.
Save all materials & take pictures.

I wouldn't use Fedex either. Ended up receiving 8 or 10 wheels in order to get 4 that weren't damaged for my truck. Rediculous

That's crazy, I ordered some LED lights from home depot for my house. Those LEDs came in a big sturdy box. I wrapped up my headlights pretty good and sent them to ONEighty through USPS and it arrived there safely. I'm hoping it'll arrive back here safely. Not sure how ONEighty will be mailing it back. I had a ton of peanuts, bubble wrap, and those big like air bags all over the box. Luckily the box even stated "FRAGILE." Wish you luck in getting your claim back. I know it's a pain in the ***.
