Help Making the G37 Faster
Hey guys I just picked up a 2012 G37xS sedan the other day on an 18 month lease. I came from an 09 WRX. So I'm wondering how I can make this car faster for fairly cheap as I dont wanna dump a bunch of money on a leased car? Maybe an intake and tune or just a tune if thats possible? With the WRX you could buy a Cobb accessport and reflash the ecu and pick up a decent amount. Is there anything like that, that I can do with the g37 that I will notice a decent gain? I also dont wanna make this car extremely loud either. Will tuning the car with no mods make any gains? Sorry for my ignorance guys and I appreciate any help or advice you guys can give.

Will hfc's or hfc's with full exhaust cause a check engine light from the o2 sensors cuz of the increased flow if I dont get a tune right away?

I went w/ Fast Intentions. for everything. No check engine light came on. If you went w/ Ark exhaust and the berk test pipes the gain is more. My friend did that and he has higher numbers then me. Since i had the FI exhaust i wanted to stay w/ the same brand w/ the HFC but i wanted to stay away from the test pipes b/c of the smell i didn't want coming in the car.

We both have 08 G35 sedan and he is pushing 13HP more then me w/ his setup. I am planning on getting Headers to see if i can catch up to his numbers. lol i don't have too much of a rasp on my car. I got all my parts 2nd hand but headers i am getting brand new unless someone sell me the one i want.

Oh you'll definitely get a check engine light...
J/k You're only likely to get one if you damage something during the install, i.e. an O2 sensor. I can agree that the most noticeable gains come from HFCs and an exhaust. I have an intake, but only because I got a great deal on it.

I may just go with an intake first for the noise and then get hfc's with a tune. I believe I saw something like ultra high flow or very high flow cats. Maybe get the higher flowing cats and keep the catback stock if thats possible. Damn I really dont know yet lol. I barely have $400 saved up yet as I have money on the side for my AK47 that I wanna get.

I think bluedevils95 said it a couple posts up that you can just go with hfc's with stock exhaust and that would be second best over full exhaust and hfc's. Thats what I plan to do if and when I decide to do anything with the exhaust.

i just had my hfc's put on yesterday and i have my stock exhaust. My car is definitely faster and more responsive. I can't say that all of this is from the hfc's considering i also had stillen headers and stillen gen 3 intakes installed, but i would definitely recommend getting hfc's for more power. My mechanic says that it makes the most difference with our cars.
