hi yall,

im new to this forum so bare with me here... i recently purchased a g37s and in my pursuit to upgrade performance i decided to install an aftermarket intake... ive been reading alot on the r2c and it seems like everybody loves it... i also came around TA-3016P Takeda Cold Air Intake havent read any reviews on it so if anybody has an input on this i would like to hear it... with that said is there any other intake that yall recomend that? i dont want to do any cuttings pretty much bolt on.. thanks

There are only 2 intakes where there are members that have dynoed intakes ( many examples). That is r2c and stillen gen3. I haven't found any other intakes that have been dynoed by forum members. That said I am also looking for alternate options but want a proven track record. Example k&n typhoon looks just like the r2c but at a far lower cost... But no results are posted except from the manufacturer..

R2c drops right in gen3s require modding...

 

stay away from Takeda. Have heard nothing but "CHEAP" reviews about them.

Only two intakes I would even consider are Stillen Gen3 (true cold air) or R2C (short ram-warm air) which requires no modification at all and is a pretty easy install.

I bought my car and it had shorty cold air intakes so i paid a shop to extend them to where they are just like the Stillen gen 3 and the i wrapped the tubes with DEI exhaust wrap. before i dynoed in 80 degree air in july, after i dynoed in 60 october. but i gain up to 17 hp and 14 torque on a REAL dyno. I ended up with 275 peak and i have everything but headers.

Takeda cai isn't that bad in my opinion. Other than fitment issues it seems to work as it should. Haven't had a chance to dyno it yet but am going to wait till I finish my exhaust and hfc install today. R2c when I had the G35 is the best intake I've used. Even considered getting it for the 37s but since I'm going to go FI next summer its a waste of money.

 

yeah, I haven't seen a single dyno from Takeda...but it is relatively new

 

Figured out how to do an image, This is my custom intake modeled after the Stillen Gen 3 and then I bought the DEI exhaust wrap kit to make sure very little heat gets in it. Dyno sheet shows 17 hp and 14 tq gain. 1st dyno was in 80 degree July then the 2nd 60 degree October. I went from 258 to 275. These numbers might seem low but I want you to know Im not using an inflated dyno.

 

In my 08'I was running an Injen CAI, with a noticable increase in power. Just got my 11' G37s and moved my Injen CAI over Still gives me a noticable increase in power and torque. Probably as much as or more than an IPL when I drove them back to back. I haven't had it dyno'd yet.

I'm not sure if the Injen is still available. They were getting numbers similar to what that modified intake is generating.

 

Am I reading this correct, noticeable increase in torque/hp with just an intake alone, no exhaust modifications?
