Looking for some advice on modding a 2009 G37
Basically I have a new 2009 g37 Journey and about 1000 dollars to drop on it. I will probably be driving it for a pretty long time so I can't have mods that are going to shorten its life. Also I'd really prefer not to void the cars warranty or at least have the mods be discreet enough that the mechanics at my dealership won't notice. Straight line speed upgrades, to me, are preferable to any handling upgrades.
I don't have any experience modding vehicles and would appreciate any ideas that people have.

well first off, any mods whatsoever will be noticed by any tech worth their weight (if they are working around said area of the car). so if you don't want to the dealership to notice, don't mod.
That being said, with the money you have there is barely any speed/power modding you can do. Given money wasn't an issue I'd say
-drop
-wheels
-exhaust
-CAI (or save for SC)
the only one out of those you can get for <=1K is a drop

For 1000, I'd get Eibach springs + used exhaust. If you like the stock exhaust right now, I'd get the springs and Hotchkis sway bars.

This is good advice...for your money get the hotchkis and eibach pk...they are two fairly inexpensive mods that will make a big difference in the look and handling of the car
Cool, thanks alot people! An acquaintance of mine who has heavily modded a Nissan 350z and a Trans Am recommended that I buy 370z springs on eBay from various Z owners who had taken theirs out in order to further lower their cars. He said this could be done very cheaply. Is that a good suggestion or would the Eibach springs be much better?
Also, my car is not an S... Is that going to affect anything with the bars or springs?

Personally I would just go with Eibachs because they are made for the G specifically, but you could probably go either way.
The S has a tighter OEM suspension and steering ratio, so it will just result in you getting a more drastic result from things like the Hotchkis sways

I would not recommend getting the Z springs as it is not meant to go into our cars. G probably weighs a lot more than the Z too so the those springs may not like the extra load.
Look into Eibach Pro-kit. It's the crowd favorite for lowering springs. Going from a non-S version, you'll notice a stiffer ride. But MUCH improved handling. The only thing that would effected would probably be the ride, you'll feel the road more but it's stiffer. Sway bar will decrease the body roll during turns to give you better control in turns. Also a very noticeable improvement.

Any aftermarket springs will put added stress on the OEM shocks, yes. However...the Eibachs are so mild that the added stress would really only be realized if you drove the car for hundreds of thousands of miles. They aren't going to wear the shocks out any faster that will make you notice
Thanks haha.
Are shocks particularly expensive and if they do happen to go out at some point in the distant future would I immediately know about it?
Also would it gut the car if they were to go out?
And hopefully, last question, are there any risks associated with the sway bars?

I been on Tein S techs for about 30,000 miles w no issues and they are lower then eibachs, but I'm cautious about what will happen and Aldo how would I know when shocks are bad!
