ecu/chip mods

Do the ecu/chip mods make a dramatic improvement for our cars? which one is the best all around buy? Any one that already has one car to lend an input?

You can't mod this car that way.

there are no chips listed.

if you are talking about the Hypertech and Cobb those are not chips and have their own threads!

OIC. The Magden is no longer available. Mixed reviews on the Cobb AcessPort (I don't have it personally). Blitz throttle controller works as it claims but all it does is increase throttle response, no increase in power.

Yeah, I was talking about those. I just know there are alot of restricters programmed into our ecus. USA emissions regulations and what not. So was thinking it would be nice not to have them, and run as the car was intended.

You have a lot more research to do about our cars. Our ECU is not programmed with restrictions on them. It's not like you can remove "emissions restriction" and get 30 more hp.

thats not what i was looking to do. don't talk down to me just because I'm new to the forum. throttle response time is a little lag-ish for me. and I'm getting pipes and exhaust, so when I do I'm sure the car will not program itself to adapt to those mods.

ECU/Chips are useful for cars with forced induction.........they will do little to nothing on naturally aspirated cars, you'll get a litttttle extra power but not a significant amount.

cars that have bolt ons such as HFC's, intakes and exhausts....can get a little more power from ecu tunes

but like i said, our engines are naturally aspirated, so dont expect much from a tune

cool the jets man nobody's talking down to you

if the throttle response is lagging try the hypertech or grounding wires (PM Black Betty) if you have AT.

And actually the ECU WILL adapt to the mods you are putting on, so like ^^ said, take some time to learn about the ECU before trying to do any crazy things to it.

When they tuned my car it did not improve at all. They used uprev. The car is already tuned very well from the factory. If you add any FI, headers or anything big then you will need a tune. Intake, exhaust and pully's you should be fine on factory tune.

couldn't you just reset the ECU after adding a few mods to allow the car to adjust to them?

I beg to differ. I added all my bolt ons and reset my ecu. It does adapt itself due to VVEL, but I think true throttle response and better low end power was gained through my UPREV tuning. Honestly, my car became a bit sluggish after adding a better flowing exhaust with larger piping, true dual exhaust with xpipe. My car really comes to life now after the tune.

It is not always a good thing to reset your ECU. What you can do is find a shop that will let you try Uprev and then if you don't gain anything then they can set you back to stock map.
