Stereo Help

I do not know much about car audio. I have a local shop that wants to do an install in my car. They keep trying to push Rainbow sub and amp, telling me they are top end. Problem is that I have never heard of them. Orginally I was just goign to do Zapco, FI, or Focal.

Has anyone heard of Rainbow? How is their SQL?

Rainbow is about as top end as you can get, that's why you haven't heard of them if you aren't into car audio. There's only a handful of authorized dealers in the US. It's going to cost you a grip if it is a legit authorized dealer because they don't have to be competitive on pricing as there are so few of them. Mind saying which shop it is? Do you now if they are authorized, because if they aren't and you have issues, you are SOL.

FWIW, Ive heard some of their gear and it did sound great, but not greater than other gear that costs much less IMO. I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the gear assuming you have a competent installer. Since you are ballin' like that I'm sure you aren't concerned about price.

It is large shop in Baltimore. I am sure they are authorized, he deals very heavily with their products. I met the owner at a local car show and he liked my G37 and talked to me about doing a semi-sponsorship.

Orginally I planned on going with a Focal Utopia or FI Q series 12" with a 400w Zapco C2K amp. After talking with him, he told me to come by his shop and he would show me their stuff.

He said he would do a Rainbow 12" Vanadium sub, 500w iPaul amp, Rainbow box with custom flush trunk face, red vinyl (my theme), Memphis 4 gauge kit, and install for 800 dollars.

depends how high end ya wanna go brotha. IMO Dynaudio sounds amazing. price is high but not ridiculously high. ill be starting my system up very shortly (work for a small chain of car audio shops) and im def using dynaudio for drivers and audison for amps. as far as high end goes... check out Rainbow, Dynaudio, Hertz/Audison, Focal, Mcintosh, TRU Tech, Zapco. That should get you started. PM me if ya have any other questions.
