So update on the tax stuff.

It looks like if you are claimed as a dependent you cannot get that American opportunity tax credit.

However, If you aren't a dependent you can.

My Mom and I are working out something to where hopefully we will both benefit from this. Long story and don't want to type it out how we think it will work. Needless to say I should have a couple extra grand if the plan goes swell

Assume that probably won't work for my mom and I. I think my parents file taxes together. I know my mom makes less than 180k but I think they are joint income??

Your parents would be a joint income, unless they file seperately which wouldn't make much sense. They most likely claim you as a dependent like my parents did so you wouldn't qualify regardless, and definitely because of the income. Mine make less than that so that is why I qualify

Well the deal with my mom and I is something for the prior years because she actually filed an education credit thing but did it wrong so she is going to ammend her old ones. If she gets the 2k from the previous years then I get 1k and I told her she could have the other 1k. This year if it works out better for her refund if she claims me as a dependent then she will claim it and she will give me the 1k and keep the other benefits to her. If it doesn't make much of a difference I will be able to file as not a dependent and do it that way ...

That's basically it in a nutshell, there are other details but they don't really matter.

Maybe but I think they would still have to make less than 180k AGI. The whole tax thing is dang confusing.

Book income doesn't count towards taxes man. Zuckberg could avoid taxes the rest of his life if he wanted....

I got four words for ya. Works, aggressive as he\\.

I am buying them used. I am keeping the rest a secret. I decided not to waste money on a set of cheap rims and tires and get what I want the first time.
