5/21/2017 NW IL/Galena Cruise
Date: 5/21/2017 , 6/4/2017 rain date
Meet time: 7:45am
Meet location : Road Ranger off of 90/20 - https://goo.gl/maps/z3jp1SHtay82
Total distance: ~300 miles roundtrip
*Please park in the area in red - https://i.imgur.com/QP1nSW3.jpg
Pace: Slow in the straights, spirited in the corners.
Lunch: Subway in East Dubuque
Requirements: Be fueled (both you and car) and ready to go. I'd like to be on the road by 8am.
There's few technical/scenic roads around here. These are probably the best and we'll hit them all.

This is still a go. Too early to tell about the weather. Some sites say 30/40% rain. I'm in so long as it stays at 30-40%.
I also posted this on several FB groups. Several indicated interest. With these meetups, never quite sure who's showing up until actual meet time.

Just a bunch of G37 owners getting together to all ride down some scenic roads together and chill?

The main goal was to drive some technical roads (what few we have in this area). The route was a culmination of many years/miles of motorcycle riding to seek out those with little/no traffic and plenty of technical complexity. We bs'd at the stops and lunch.
It does sound fun, but 300 miles in one day might be rough for me, haha. I'd love to partake sometime though.

Counting what it took to get to the meet spot, closer to 400 miles for me. I was back by ~4:30 that afternoon. I've done longer day trips on the bike - 600 miles +. You yutez are supposed to be full of stamina

Repeat of this on June 25th. Route is a little longer as we'll be hitting a portion of the Great River Road in IA. Plan on being back in the city around 5/5:30 or so. Other details remain the same.

Hey Jsolo - do you have any additoinal events planned in the future? I live in Dubuque IA but will be out of town this weekend but around in future weekends. I have a 2010 G37 and know of a few cool scenic drives plus would be cool to meet others.
Hope you enjoy the ride! There's plenty of good food spots in Kieler Wi, Dubuque, IA and Galena.
btw..how many people have attended this in the past?

@Jason,
I have lunch planned at red robin in dubuque this time. Haven't been there in a few years though. Any better places with good food and decent parking?
Number folks who show up varies... Anywhere from 0 to 5 or 6 cars. Five is probably the most I'd want to lead unless there are others who also are gps/route equipped. Keeping a larger car group together becomes difficult, especially once we hit the more challenging roads because skill level varies greatly.
I've done many of the numbered and single lettered roads in SW WI. The roads are not in the best of shape and are generally inconsistent in design from one another. As such, I tend to stay away these days.
The route I've come up with incorporates a number of technical roads in the NW part of the state. If I need a bigger fix I head down to southern IN, eastern ky, and western west virginia. Those are at least a 3 day trips.
Next month I'm heading south to visit friends. Probably won't be a local cruise like this until august.

Sure thing. Probably keep it at a slower pace to enjoy the sights.
Here's some highlights.
