It started a long time ago, before all those auctions. In the past, when someone went to get his car registered, they'd throw him a random 5 digit license plate. All the nice numbers were saved and given to the royals and ruling families. The ruler of Dubai for instance has like a dozen Benz G55s, all with the number plate 1.

You'd basically need to be hooked up to get a number plate that nice (not saying number one, but 2 digit number plates for instance etc..) The government didn't sell the plates before, so the only way to get a nice number plate, is to either know someone with humungous *****, or be someone with humungous ***** lol.

On the other hand, people and even cops would fear those numbers. Most cops for instance would fear pulling someone over for any reason once they see a 2-digit plate. That's why you see them pulling every sort of illegal mod they can, coz they have the power and most cops would just ignore them fearing they might lose their jobs.

Illegal Tints, Illegal Paintjob but with a sexy number plate => doesn't give a ****, or just has too much money will pay enough bribes to keep him rolling

Now though, demand and supply.. everyone wants a hot plate, crazy billionaires willing to pay **** loads to get their hands on those single or double digit plates or whatever. So the government started organizing auctions and announced that the money would go to feeding the poor etc.. So now anyone can get a hot plate if he's got the cash for it. It's some sort of road respect they feel like they gained or whatever, I don't get it and find it very stupid.

Something quite funny reminded me of this talk today

Our underground parking is 3 stories, middle one is reserved for some govt organization. The remaining two stories are open to registered cars and you can wherever.

So I came back from a party quite late, Top floor was packed with cars, I drove around looking for a spot to park but no hope. Then I spot this empty and race to it but what do you know.. It had a paper on it that says "Parking Reserved for car with plate number 56". Thing is, that paper had no official stamps or logo's, just that line printed in huge font and taped to the wall. So legally, I have all the right to park.

I still pussied out and drove down 2 stories to park my poor G

That last pic with the 2 Ferrari's Bently and the Classic behind it, are all owned by the same person, who also happens to own the building they're parked in
