Exhaust suggestions! DIY? Shop? Where?

I'd like to preface this by saying I haven't done much research, and I am typing this before going to work.

Alright everyone, my Y-pipe has begun to rust so bad that the hole has grown to rasp. So, It is time for me to get myself a new exhaust.

We'll start with this: Replace just the Y-pipe, or replace it ALL? The exhaust note from the factory was nice, but I wanted a slightly louder, fuller sounding exhaust, unlike the restrictiveness of the stock exhaust if I can.

Next, do I do this myself or take it to a shop? Shops on my radar are Speedy (Guy who runs the place is a nice guy), or Budget exhaust (A friend I used to work with works there now, very handy with the welder!) I am quite the handyman when it comes to my car, and can pretty much do whatever I need to do in my driveway. The idea if I do it myself is to clamp it all together. If I took it to a shop, they would be doing it, saving my time, but ultimately costing me more money(which has been growing, but still tight)

Any and all input is appreciated, I look forward to reading anything here after my shift!

I have zero suggestions for a better sounding exhaust but you can get a new y-pipe for a bout 130 ish Canadian shipped from rock auto...do it yourself...the y-pipe back is an easy bolt on in the driveway affair on these cars ...

So it’s two days later, and I’ve decided to take it to budget, let my friend work on it, and have them replicate 3/4 of the stillen exhaust but with an x pipe instead of a collector flange. Well see how it goes!

As of now, car is in the shop... let me explain:

The Y-pipe has a hole right in the top, I wanted a bit more umph from the exhaust note as it was from the factory. The plan is to take the exhaust, go 2,1/8 on the pipes from the cats back to the muffler. The muffler will stay stock, until I find one that sounds better!

I love DIY stuff on my car, but this is something I just can't handle by myself, the pros need to step in.

Exhaust velocity is important up to the collector, then everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is a restriction. Go bigger if you have a chance.
