G37x going for BERKS

Looking to purchase some Berk HFCs .. they are used from California.. I havent done anything to the exhaust and im currently on a budget (holidays suck) Im young amd have never really expierenced and different exhaust options on my past cars but it seems like this HFC from Berk might be a decent boost for some sound and throttle response for a good price..So question is.. Pain in the *** DIY? Im stubborn and want sound stock exhaust is ok but need more..

Its an easy diy with the right tools and patience. Plenty of writeups here. Goodluck.
should be a nice improvement overstock as long as the berks are in good shape. Hard to tell with used cats and just have to trust the seller.

Shop Quote

Not sure if the guy was new but called a custom exhaust shop and asked for a quote to install hfcs.. he said something about firewall and they cant reach some bolts.. blah blah. So im stuck between these HFCs and maybe an ebay axle back until I can dish out 1500 on a full cbe.. should I say yolo and just try and see if I like a resonator OR muffler delete? Definetly not both.. thanks!

Catback wont yield much power. Theyre mostly for sound.
hfc or test pipes unlock extra power. Muffler delete sounds decent. Do not do a resonator delete period. They cancel out rasp not much sound. They clean up the note.
the removal of stock cats should be easy for a shop if theyre saying its hard find a new shop. Ive done it on 6 different VQ from g35 to 370z g37 etc. In my garage on my back. Im no expert just into cars.

Hmm intersting.. the best exhaust ive had was some magnaflow mufflers on a 2.0t audi and it was decent for me ( which I know is nothing compared to even my current stock 3.7 cbe in the G) .. soo decent to you is very different than to me lol.. guess im going to just see I can daily a muffler delete in a busy city lol.. Im not looking for power just yet coming from a 210 torque sedan so I guess you can say Im going for sound at the moment.

Muffler delete quoted at 120-200 not sure if that includes tips or not.. would a different size tip or piping effect sound also?

I have the Berk HFC and Fast Intentions cat back. Installed the Berk HFC first and they definitely "opened up" the sound of the exhaust if that makes sense. A much throatier note on throttle up to about 3K RPM, although they also add a little hiss off throttle (not a big deal to me).

Can't comment on the DIY installation; I paid my local mechanic 2 hours labor to install because I didn't want to mess with the "demon bolts." But I highly recommend it as your first exhaust mod; it will definitely hold you over until you're ready to install the full cat back or axle back (either of which are easy to install yourself and will transform the sound even more).

A muffler delete with Berk cats is going to be insanely loud. If that's your thing, you're on track for win. You'll be giddy with all that rumbly feedback, but don't be surprised if that gets old. Good luck, Japan.

I strongly recommend you start with the cats and step back, assess things. Odds are you'll be content with the change, and will reconsider the muffler delete. There is no "pairing" with these two mods, and there's no reason you can't go back for the muffler delete if that's still on the table.

Thank you all

Thanks for the opinion!! Id love to just unbolt the mufflers and just drive for an hour to test but they are so rusted and I know theyll strip on me.. I spent good change on my last cars exhaust and it wasnt even close to what I expected.. So I think im going to have the cats installed either way and maybe just keep it stock, maybe. Im young so Ive never expierienced any real tone or drone before in any car so my taste could possibly be different than others. Also, I luckily live close to work with no highway miles and dont have to arrive on the clock till 10am.. so no brutal cold starts for my neighbors at 6am lol. Either way, Im excited for the Berk Tech cats, and whatever else comes down the road for my and my G! 80k on her now and I love it!
