Custom intake no filters?

I`m Far from an expert on cars to the point where I have never seen this intake setup but personally I would want filters on something that's directly sucking air into my engine.... **** what if you run over a nail and that **** flips up and get sucked into your intake there goes your engine I would Assume...
I remember seeing the post also. I believe the description said it was larger than Stillen, and that his pipes were 2.75" vs the 2.5". Its definitely interesting to not have any form of filter or mesh to block debris

Interesting setup. Definitely not Stillen. I wonder if it could be saved from larger debris/contaminants with a mesh screen just past the velocity stacks at the very lest.

No other pics really, was in the local classifieds
thinking an in-line filter would make this setup work nicely
My E55 had air tubes picking up from the front grill then going to inline air filters just before the throttle body.
