Another sedan exhaust thread lol!
How's it going all,
I've been looking around the past few months at getting an exhaust for my sedan. I have around 600 to spend. I have my eye on the OBX cat back. Does anyone have it? It looks like the exhaust is designed to be louder at higher rpm than around idle due to the extra mufflers above the tailpipes. Let me know what you guys think and possibly other exhaust ideas!
Thanks!

Was OBX the best of the cheap China made knockoffs? I vaguely remember one of those knockoff brands was good but was discontinued because the design was way too similar to the original.
If OBX was that exhaust, then yeah maybe get it.
In any case, I hear about fitment problems all the time with these cheap made in China products. I also hope you've heard how this exhaust sounds.

That's a good point. I don't want the tailpipes to fall 6 inches short of the bumper cover. That's something I'll have to look into.
The obx exhaust looks very similar to the hks cat back. To me it looks like the mid pipe on the hks is resonated and the obx is not. Other than that the design looks very similar. Below is the link to the hks exhaust.

That HKS exhaust is also listed as for the coupe.....
Honestly, a $600 budget really limits your options. You'd be better served with an axle back, muffler delete, trying to find a used cat back, or holding out a few months and saving some more money.

Okay so after some research, I'm contemplating on spending some more money on the Invidia q300 catback, or finding an axle back and some high flow cats or test pipes. I know that testpipes can lead to a CEL, but with most of the testpipes I've seen the o2 sensor port looks extended. Does this help eliminate the CEL or can it only be taken care of with a tune?

The Invidia is a decent exhaust with nice tips, but it's not particularly loud, which can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for.
Top Speed makes an axle back and I think a muffler delete that get pretty good reviews.
Don't rush into a exhaust decision.

Top Speed has a Y back for the Sedan that utilizes the OEM Y pipe. It replaces the most restrictive parts while retaining the OEM Y pipe which keeps cabin noises bearable. Pretty good option if you share the car with a SO and makes you go 'stealth' mode when in residential or around cops. Above 3.5-4k RPMS though...it can be a screamer.

Axle back is just a muffler delete...No sense in paying more than $120 for that to be done at a local muffler shop.
Be patient and snag it off ebay (TS sells on there).
Be sure you get the one with the BEVEL tips
"TIG Welding with 102mm Bevel Edge Tips / 60mm Piping"

So I ended up getting the topspeed axle back exhaust. Just installed it today. Everything went very well except for the drivers side nut (connecting the y-pipe to the midpipe) started to strip. Well then I decided to get a nut buster (at Lowes) to take the nut off. That didn't go so well so I had to use a grinder with a cut off wheel to cut the head of the bolt off. The exhaust came apart after I did this, the install went very well after this little fiasco. Now I got a question for any one with this exhaust, does the tail pipes come very close to the back bumper? I'm worried about the tips burning the bumper... thanks.
