Airflow Restriction of Stock Grille

Crazy question,

I am researching the best option for CAI for my '11 g37xS. I've narrowed the options down to the Takeda CAI. Being that it sits in front of the car, behind the grille, would it be a good idea to purchase an open mouth grille to ensure the absolute best flow of air to the intake? Functionality and Asthetics

Google search some pictures of open mouth grilles...Personally, everything I've seen is made of really thin material and looks cheap. one member went as far as replacing the mesh himself with something thicker - that looked decent.

Stock, emblem-less is the best looking IMO. From a functionality standpoint, I can't see the flow being disrupted that much or guys would've been diving into replacement.

Take your grill off and remove the emblem and apply some bondo or resign to the area to make it emblem-less

Sand it down and paint it ( it will take you few hours but you will save money and it will look better

You do want a little restriction so in case it rains, you're still good. I have the cold air intakes and driving it in the rain is always scary lol

From: Framingham Ma,
Stock grill will flow more than enough air for the takeda's, just make sure you mod them t the two filter style and lose the one big can filter

Why switch from the one filter too the two filter? Any reason?

There is no beneficial gain from removing the grill, The oem grill is more than capable enough to feed it. The side effect that will come from an open grill and straight filters is damage from incoming debris. You'll also find yourself having to clean your MAFs more often due to microscopic dust and vapor hitting it more than if it had a grill.

Due to the pull from both intakes it can essentially tug from the other as they get dirtier.
