My Y Pipe kind of needs to be replaced...I'm also wondering how the sound will be enhanced , I currently have the HKS axle back also have a CAI ...I've seen quite a few Y Pipes on EBAY...decent looking ones...I don't want to piece the exhaust together , but right now I cant justify buying a $1600 cat back exhaust..maybe next spring

It's a big pill to swallow, but understand that once you do it, you'll have zero regrets.

I totally agree....I somewhat regret getting the HKS axle back...$400 I could have used towards the Fast intentions or ARK. I do like the sound of the HKS, Id love to customize it, with an all stainless steel piping. But maybe that's just not realistic. sigh

Why don't you just sell the axleback and get HKS CBE. It's only $1100 iirc. I was heavily debating that and the ARK when I made my purchase.

I bought a $70 (shipped) y pipe off ebay meant for the first gen sedan, although it fits all g and z models. My previous 3" y pipe was causing a huge amount of drone and rasp when paired with my ART pipes and Top Speed y-back, as the top speed is 2.5". The ebay y pipe is 2.5" and although the welds and construction wasn't the best, 80% of my rasp/drone is gone.

Do you have a link for that? I still have the 3" Y-pipe in my attic since as you experienced, it was a rasp inducer. Would like to have that smaller piped Y since it would match up to my TopSpeed. My current OEM Y pipe is seriously shredded so really need to replace it, thanks!

Here's the link, the list price is $85 but I offered $70 and they accepted around a month or two ago. Pretty crazy deal considering there is no shipping charge and it comes with gaskets and bolts.

Originally, my plan was to get this and get a resonator welded into that long straight section. Except when I actually got around to putting it on this past weekend, I was completely stunned to hear that a great deal of the drone and rasp was removed just from switching piping diameter.. I had no idea it was that important.

Also, just another warning, the quality of this piece (welds, etc) isn't something you'll get with a reputable brand.. but the way I see it, is as long as there's no leaks and not fitment issues with a price this low you can't really complain.

Edit: not sure if you were replying to me OP but no, I don't believe it fits the X

Thanks for that link, and yeah, those welds do look quite sketchy, good thing it's not for show
Looks to be just what the doctor ordered for my situation, and FWIW, didn't know the fitment was the same for 1st gens, good to know!

I considered that, but I thought I could get this cheapo y pipe and get a resonator welded in for around $150, which is a lot cheaper than the XYZ pipe. Although the XYZ pipe is niiiceee

That will work, just make sure you match the piping diameter all the way through, including the midpipe.
