Cool Increase sound question?

May be a stupid question, but I recently purchased a 2008 g37 coupe. It's my first one (coming from a mustang background) I've never owned an import so I don't wanna mess something up. I'm looking into a muffler and resonator delete. Or a straight pipe. I've heard ex aust systems and the deletes and honestly the exhaust do not impress me. Just not the same as a v8 I guess. However the deletes sounds nice, but what kind of cons is there to doing this? Please no negative replies. Just looking for advice.

Welcome to the site. Yep, no replacement for displacement, so the V6 can sound nice but still not a V8. I'd consider an axleback combined w/ resonated High Flow Cats, or Resonated test pipes, this will give you a nice look from the tail and some extra volume along w/ some gains (with the cats or test pipes added).

Hey Amber, I currently have an axle back only and I would highly suggest it over a muffler delete. I got a Beluga axle back and can easily change it back to OEM if I ended up not liking it. If u have the extra cash you could spend it on a Tanabe Axle back, mixed with a HFC and a aftermarket intake then youll be set. Try looking up different vids on YouTube !

also have the Beluga axleback, and actually had someone knock on my window while parked to ask if my G had a V8 in it. its cheap, louder and deeper than stock, and without all the raspiness, drone, and "Joe Dirt" crappy sound of a muffler delete.

The VQ is one of the nicer sounding V6's out there.

Muffler delete alone on a coupe sounds really great.

I started off with a muffler delete and it was really raspy at around 3-4K RPM. I later got a custom true dual 2.5 inch exhaust with resonated test pipes and it sounds really good in my opinion. It was also more affordable then a name brand exhaust.

I puttered into a parking space at a restaurant with a patio a few weeks ago. A fellow sitting there asked if my car had a 5.0?

The ARK exhaust does accentuate low frequencies at low rpm. Not sure if the coupe and sedan catbacks sound the same.
