Megan resonated test pipes...False advertisement
So I ordered these test pipes to see how I liked the sound since they were cheap. Figured the packing in the resonators would be bad within the first year and I could just upgrade or go back to stock depending on how I liked the sound. Well I got them today in the mail. Packaging was awesome. Well wrapped with bubble wrap and no damage to the cardboard box either. On to the bad...
I took a light to the inside to see how well they are built. THE FREAKING RESONATORS ARE HOLLOW. NO PACKING! Now I see why people talk about how loud they are. They are NOT truly resonated.
I am in discussion currently with the seller in hopes I can get a full refund and if not eBay will hear about the false advertisement.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I understand that theory however in a vehicle if it isn't a helmholtz style then it will do nothing aside from amplify the volume.
If you wouldn't mind, and I am not trying to be rude, but please point me to a real exhaust company that markets an empty tube as a resonator? Jones, vibrant, thrush, dynomax, maganflow etc etc sells packed resonators. Even the oems use packed resonators. This is basically fraud, no?

I imagine they all use packed resonators. Mostly because they can - its an effective addition, and its really cheap. But to be a "resonator" doesn't require packing. If Megan claimed it was a packed resonator then it would be fraud.
Really though, you bought almost the cheapest thing available. I think your expectations might have been a little high.

High or not, the only problem here was I expected some kind of packing. I didn't expect these to last or anything I just wanted something to test out on the exhaust to see if I would remotely like to delete the cats or not. I assumed the fast intentions ones or equivalent would lower the sound a bit from these resonators but that is beside the point. Fiberglass is cheap and it wouldn't have reduced hardly anything from their profit margin

Just to further this issue...I emailed the seller who stated they contacted Megan racing directly who said there is supposed to be packing in the resonators.
And on another note, the flex section in both test pipes is actually different lol. One is similar to OEM with the accordion looking metal inside it the other is simply the braided wires...I wouldn't even install these if they gave them to me for free. Hoping the return goes smoothly

You can attempt to be sarcastic and condescending all you would like however it was meant to be a public warning. As you stated, I did expect an inferior product and it was meant for me basically to see how resonated test pipes sounded on the g37 platform in person. Yes, I will be purchasing a name brand product to replace this with however I assumed it would be beneficial to members as well as people searching the web to read this. Guess I was wrong? Maybe just in your eyes I suppose.
