HFCs useless without full CBE?
I swapped out my OEM cats for Fast Intentions resonated high-flow cats, mated to the OEM catback. I drove like that for a full year before getting an aftemarket CBE; (also FI, in 2.5" pipes with 18" resonators.)
Because the cats were resonated, and because I still had the OEM CBE, the increase in noise was very subtle, and deep. There was a noticeable gain all throughout the power band, but not so much as to knock you back.
Adding the CBE a year later, and there was a noticeable gain in the midrange, but again, nothing shocking, just welcome.
Cats and cat install costs were about 2/3 the final outlay for the CBE.

I went with the FI R-HFC's with OEM CBE system. Great sound, improved power, and very pleased. I drove with a group of Honda S2000's after I installed the FI's and they were impressed by the sound.
FI RHFC + OEM catback... not even a whiff of drone. Very livable, very normal.
FI RHFC + 2.5" FI catback w/18" res... then yes, there's drone.
If I give 6th gear some throttle, nnn nnn nnn. However, if you're pushing 6th gear, you might want to downshift anyway. 6th is for highway cruising. Can't really say what the experience would be like in an automatic.

ugh.. i just did vibrant 18" resonator + tanable mufflers, minimal drone (only in high gear low rpm around - not constant and very livable) but now i wish i just did RHFC and kept everything else stock.
anyone have soundclips of the RHFC and stock system?

you can definitely hear how less restrictive the stock set up becomes just with the RHFC alone. you can hear the hollow sound which I LOVE from these engines..then when your pair it with a CBE and resonators it just amplifies.. damn..might add an RHFC to my set up one day.. ill post a video up soon of my set up
